6-speed manual pops out of 1st

OT I know, but can someone tell me how to "Like" a post? I see someone "liked" my post and I would like to be able to do the same for other posts, but see no option for it. I'm assuming it may be because I'm new.

Lower right corner, but if you don't see it, it could be due to your low post count, as you suspected:

The shift fork assembly in the transmission and the shape of the dogs on the shift collars among other things make the nsg370 not want to stay in gear. It was supposedly upgraded in later years?

The ‘06 fixed some issues. I don’t know about the ‘07 and later, but we know they are not able to be swapped into a TJ and in my limited experience I have not heard these problems.

I'm not expert, but I did watch a utube...😂

🤣 I started to watch, then realized I’d seen it before. I quickly turned it off to avoid having nightmares. That shift fork. 😐 It’s all why I got out of that transmission. Dumb plastic pieces. The guy was trying to glue things on. 😦

Saw someone was selling just the pads, in plastic and this guy says he had no luck with that, seems like on another thread there might be bronze option? 🤷. At least I have better understanding why a B&m shifter replacement works… makes me think the Dormans might be just a factory equivalent replacement….

The bronze option is for the rail guide. It replaces the plastic piece that he said is always broke when he gets into one. He also dismisses its importance, but it’s one of the main reasons the other parts fail..

I wondered if any who rebuild or sell manufactured transmissions use this piece. I doubt it. I see this as a limited life transmission. What will people do in 10 years? Will there be anyone who rebuilds it?

To be brutal... clearly nobody in the industry cares. Niche market.

You can still purchase brand new AX-15 transmissions from Advanced Adapters and Novak.

It's a proven fix with a great transmission.

I think you need a bell housing too.

It's also not terribly difficult to tear into one of those and replace the parts causing the issue. I'd certainly be doing that before I decided to just keep holding it in first gear.

Of course with my luck I'd need to completely disassemble the transmission three times to get it fixed.

Well, I agree. AX-15 was my second choice. AA sells the adapter for the bellhousing. It’s around $600. You can get a brand new AX-15 today! I imagine many will go with that option.

Wasn't aware you were in Logan, has that place really been over run by the Californians.

My old wheeling grounds were turned into a $20m estate from what I was told. Left In 2005

There is definitely a loss of foothills for fun, but the canyons still have a lot going for them.... plus, no-one is going to overrun the Wellsville mountains. Building on them would be too steep(for now anyway)
