My wife and I recently purchased 97 wrangler with 4 cylinder . While driving it will sputtering and then shut off. Smells rich especially when you restart will run for couple seconds and shut off. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Check the fuel pressure.
Pull the O2 sensor on the down pipe to make an exhaust leak and see if that helps.

Should be a Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Most auto parts stores will rent you a gauge. You can also get them pretty cheap on Amazon but YMMV.
I'm guessing you have a plugged cat or a loose intake manifold.

Could try Seafoam. Start the engine, pull the vacuum line off the brake booster and dip it in the can...run the throttle body by hand...watch where the smoke comes out.

I would start a new thread
I had just drove it home from purchase about 90 miles or so which further than they normally drove it.
Turned out to be cam shaft sensor which is in the distributor
