Hey guys, I read the AX5 is only in the 2.5l. Guessing I have the AX15? What type of fluid do y'all recommend? Do you use any additives or conditioners? I bought this TJ a month ago and want to change the fluid. There's currently 170K on it and not sure of it's history. No issues with shifting and running good.

Thanks for your insight.

It requires a GL-4 75W-90 gear lube which is not easy to find in auto parts stores. SOME GL-5 75W-90 gear lubes are ok but only (!) if the rear label says 'Safe for yellow metals'. Otherwise you can't use it.

Or use the best gear lube we're aware of for the AX-5 and AX-15 transmissions which is Redline MT-90 which is a fully synthetic GL-4 75W-90.
