Hi all Ive looked everywhere but cant find any parts or any answers anywhere I look to my problem. I have a 2001 tj with the 4.0L and Im doing A/C work and I want to replace the high pressure ac switch and the low pressure switch. I can easily find the high pressure switch on parts stores but nowhere can I find the low pressure switch. I guess my question is, does this switch/sensor even exist? Is it called something else? Most importantly does anyone no where I can get one if it does exist?

Found this on advanced auto I just don’t know how to install. When I try to remove the switch I here hissing and I don’t know if I fully remove liquid wound come flying out.

It's typically mounted on a Schrader valve. Similar to the ones on your tires. As you disconnect it, a bit may hiss out but it should stop once it is fully removed.

This video shows what I'm talking about:

Does anyone know if the high and low pressure switches are interchangeable? Doing some ac troubleshooting and need to replace both of them but I'm having a hard time identifying which is which online as the connectors are both are the same.

Getting power to the relay, relay is good, clutch audibly engages with 12v but don't seem to be getting any power to the plug.

I think you can jumper the lead going to the pressure switches.
On mine when I had the gauges on it, the low pressure switch was kicking out way too early. Like 45psi.
Do you have gauges?

Have gauges yes, hooked then up last night and pressure was at 0. Tried giving it a can of freon and it filled for like a second then quit. It's not filling the system since the compresser isn't cycling is my assumption.

If the system was down to zero it might be a good time to pull a vacuum on it and possibly replace the accumulator/dryer.

If it will hold the vacuum you should be good to charge it. You can jump that low pressure switch to get it pumping.

Ultimately that’s what I ended up doing on mine as the system was low when I bought it and likely got moisture in it. Mine had a leaky schrader valve on one of the ports and the low pressure switch.

Only Takes 1.25# (20oz) R134A
I charged mine by that weight and knock on wood it’s still good three years later.

Just put a wire between the two terminals on the plug?

Just remembered I ordered a new dryer so I'm gonna wait till I can put that in before a pull a vacuum and try recharge. Should be here any day and like I said I'll lyk.

Update: the mystery is still ongoing, gonna get see if one of the other guys here at the shop has time to give a second opinion on it or check if any adjustments need to be made since I haven't really dealt with charging ac systems much.

Got the dryer put in yesterday and pulled a vacuum on it. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and it seemed to be possibly dropping some on the low side but was really hard to tell for sure. Decided to just give it a 1lb of freon so I could at least continue troubleshooting and what do you know. It's cranking cold. Seems a little wierd because I can hear the compresser kick on when I first start it but can't really tell if it's cycling on and off after that. Like I said gonna have one of the guys here thats knows what their doing with ac look at it later today, wierd .

Adding: also replaced compresser since I had the Denso unit in hand anyways.
