A Jurassic Overland Dream

@DustyRhodes03 I just did a lift kit on my LJ and I'm down here in New Brunswick. Just a few points to note since your in NS and cost sometimes can be killer on big items. 4WheelParts had best shipping and cost to us, if you travel to Fredericton you can pick your items up for free. They had the cheapest price on the Rancho 5000X shocks. I also ordered the OME coils from them however, I went with 2934/2949.

Few items I did not account for at the start that basically took more financial hit. I opted to go with both front and rear adjustable trackbars. Both ends were shifted, reading posts on some of those relocated brackets I decided against it. Also due to my OEM Ravine rims my tires rub the spring perches so I had to get spacers as well (1.25" Spidertrax).. just keep this in mind as I think a 32" tire would still also rub.

Thanks! I checked them out and they're a little bit higher priced than other places. For 2 springs from Quadratec shipped to my door it's $255 and through 4WheelParts it's $285. Free shipping to Fredericton isn't bad but by the time I spend the fuel to drive there it would work out to be around $290-$300 spent. They're site is a little confusing too, their ads only show 1 spring, I'm sure it comes with the set but it's just a little weird. Quadratec has the Rancho shocks for a little cheaper as well.

I'll make sure I account for the track bars, I've still got until spring so (hopefully) that gives me lots of time to work out all the kinks and details lol Especially since I have to keep talking myself out of going for 33's instead on almost a daily basis haha

Quadratec will hit you with duties.. ask me how I know. And it won’t be pretty either.

Really? Damn I've never been stuck paying duties when buying from them. Maybe I've just been lucky so far lol

Yah, perhaps they've changed something in the last few years but i stopped ordering due to this. Not sure if your in a rush or not, but 4WheelParts has frequent 10% off sitewide, when I made my purchase that was in effect so a set of the coils was around $220. Overall shipped to the door for shocks and coils, taxes etc was just around $720 Canadian funds.

Thats a pretty good price for sure! I've got them bookmarked now so I'll keep them in mind when the time comes.

Progress!.....kinda lol Decided to take a break from working on it this weekend.

Threw things back together today and brought the Jeep home this weekend so I can sneak in one more camping trip this year and figured I'd snap a couple pictures...Plus I really wanted to not drive a Pontiac Wave for a couple days.
Sorry for the quality, it's a 2 year old A5 thats never had a case and been dropped more times than I can count lol

Few spots inside left to finish up but it's all welded in and solid. I figure by Sunday I'll be able to start putting the carpets back in.

The drivers side still needs A LOT of work underneath which is no big surprise given the state it was/is in.
I will take full responsibility for the mess of seam sealer here. I....I have no excuse lol I'm impatient and want to go camping lol

I'm figuring another week to finish up everything underneath. I think as far as the frame goes for now, we're going to leave it patched and reinforced how we have it, we made basically homemade safe-t-caps, but I'm looking into a donor frame right now as a possibility for the end of next summer.

But for the next day or two, I'm just going to enjoy being back behind the wheel of my Jeep lol

I also need to buy a new set of drain plugs if anyone has any suggestions for a good factory replacement.

Kind of a pleasant surprise today.
Had a friend call me and tell me he found a full set of floor pans to fit my Jeep for only $250. It would mean undoing everything we've done so far, but I really think it would be worth it in the end. Soooooo I think we're gonna be undoing some work here this week lol

It was really nice to get out and just enjoy my Jeep for the weekend.

Also got to test out my new Sony camera. I'm used to a DSLR so this is a little awkward to use but it takes fairly good shots.

Tomorrow she'll be laid up again for another week or so and then it's on to tire shopping!

Spent last night and this morning doing some small maintenance before it goes off. Been up since 6am and made some good progress and crossed a couple small annoying things off the list.

Most needed was an oil change

I used this chart and decided to go with 5W-30 with winter coming on.

And it really needed it, the oil that came out was as black as could be.

And I really wanted to get rid of this disgusting blob growing on the back of the Jeep.

Some good 'ol fashioned grinding later, and a small 2"x2" patch welded in and she's good to go.
I f***ed up the body line with the bondo touching it up so I'll have to fix that before paint but for now it's all gravy.

The floors are next to be taken care of. I wont be involved in the work this time (which might be a good thing), I'm taking the Jeep and floor pans today and dropping it off at a welding shop and just letting them handle all the messy work this time.

It's been a fast paced day or two. I got a job offer this week and they wanted me to start right away so things got hectic fast lol

I got the Jeep back with the floors done and new(ish) carpets installed and couldn't be happier. I got what few pictures I could.

That's really all I could get for before/in progress pictures.

I'm really happy with how the re-dyed carpets look. It makes them look brand new. I'm going to keep a can of that dye on hand for touch ups after the winter.

While I try to figure out why my seats stopped tilting, I decided to get a couple small things done along the way.

Had this out anyway so it was a good time some to degrease and clean.
Also not pictured but the rivets for the hinge on the lid were nearly ripped out so I popped them out and reattached it with some screws.

And after seeing how bent and mangled my plate was getting I went to the shed and found a license plate holder off the front of a Civic so I put that on to make the plate last a little longer at least.

Really enjoying following your thread. Keep up the labor of love.

One thing I haven't seen yet is someone who did a Jurassic Park out of a 2004-06 Unlimited. If anyone has some photoshop skills post it up. I think it would look pretty unique.

That
Tires have been ordered!!

I was stuck between the General Grabber ATX, the K02, or the Cooper Discoverer STT Pro.
Ultimately went with the General Grabber ATX and got them for $930 out the door so I'm happy.

They should be here Monday so hopefully by Tuesday they'll be on.

That's awesome! Loved my General Grabbers when I had them.

Things are still alive!

Just been side tracked with life and work and plans changing.

Opted out of the General Grabbers and ended up going with the Cooper AT3 XLT. I saw a set in person and loved the look and with rebate the price was only $733 out the door.

Aaand then came a new loud clunking sound anytime I shifted or moved the Jeep really. Turns out the bracket for my rear control arm snapped so I ordered a new set that should be here in a day or so.

I also have my suspicions my OPDA might be going bad. I'm getting a squeaking that doesn't go away for probably 30 minutes and my oil pressure is maxing out. I'm hoping it's not the pump itself, but I do have a new one here to put on if it comes to it.

This thread is worthless without pics

Still busy as hell but I'll get some pictures up tomorrow!
