Being that your rear 10 inch axle will be HP, I think you be able to make it work with the tank underneath
That’s my goal. I wouldn't hesitate on having a custom stretch tank built if push comes to shove. Although, I’m confident that I can make the older GenRight tank work without issue.
The now discontinued GenRight GST-4005 allows for a 7” stretch using a Dana 44 and a 6” stretch with a Dana 60. With the Spidertrax housing I should be able to get in the 7” range ...if required.
And only 4 inches of stretch.
As designed, the Motobilt YJ/XJ stretch kit yields 6 inches of rear wheelbase/axle stretch. So the GenRight GST-4005 should work.
With no front axle stretch that would put my wheelbase at 99.4” based off the factory YJ 93.4” wheelbase.
Your rear driveshaft may be sort of short due to the 4L80, but will not have much angle on it with the HP
Considering the 4L80E is 10 inches longer than the AX-5, it was one of the many factors for the decision to go with the Gearworks high pinion third member.
Also, fun fact, at 15 degrees, the Spidertrax housing has a whopping 5 inches of ground clearance. (Measured from axle tube centerline to lowest measurable point of the differential) That’s more than a factory Spicer/Dana 44, if not more in the realm of a Dana 35.
I’ll document a few measurments from axle tube centerline to lowest hanging point of the diff for the Dana 35, Dana 44, etc. in this thread in the next few months.
