I was just over on the wranglerjlforum reading a thread where someone was all excited about some $2000 noise generator he installed on his 4xe to make it sound like a 392. He posted videos and it appears the system consist of some sort of exterior exhaust speaker system to make the noise. It really did sound like a V8, but what kind of insanity is it to purchase a $60,000+/- electric vehicle, then pay $2000 to install some noise generating system to make it sound like an ICE engine.

Do I have to wave to these people?

Years ago when electric vehicles were becoming more common there was talk of having them make noise under certain conditions, parking lots, etc. Some countries already have “noises” mandated, but the U.S. manufacturers have been able to hold out (lobby the Gov) to avoid this and probably so they could sucker some people into buying artificial noise to pad their bottom line.

Some vehicles have dynamic active noise to make them sound more aggressive than they really are, at least in the cabin, lol

The 4xe has an ICE and you don't have to plug it in like an electric vehicle, you put gas in it and go. People around here spend similar percentage on a muffler or exhaust system to make their rigs sound cool, do you wave at them?
