2005 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 3.7liter

I bought about a week ago, and first thing I did on payday was replace the battery. I let advanced auto do it as I didn't wanna haggle trying to find miss match tools and shit. But anyway I noticed as I was driving back to work that the rpms were through the roof, sounded like a helicopter and I didn't go past 60. And when I did it started skipping. I didn't notice until the next day the speedometer isn't working, the abs, seat belt engine lights are all on. It took me a second to put two and two together but I noticed it wasn't shifting gears, just revving up and staying there. I absolutely don't have the expertise or funds for transmission issues but don't see how aby of these issues persisted before the battery change. I saw something about an idle relearn process but it didn't work as it was generic and not make and model specific. But any help is greatly appreciated!

You're best bet is to get it scanned by someone with a scanner that can read all the modules. They could all just be low voltage codes if your new battery is defective. Although I've seen quite a few of those where either the input shaft speed sensor for the transmission (or output speed, can't really remember right now) goes bad and it'll show similar symptoms.

Ok sounds good. If it helps when I had advance Auto do their engine check since the light was already on and this is what came up

Gotcha, I appreciate that. One last question, is there a standard process for jeeps for after replacing the battery or an idle relearn process?

So I've since tried a few ecu rest processes. One worked for a few minutes but they came right back. I tried another overnight suggestion but that didn't work. So it was good and bad as I know that everything still works fine and it's not my transmission, but bad that it's right back to no speedo and no kicking into other gears

My next question is how long is a warm up period exactly?

Also how long should it take the idle relearn process and how do we know it's done?

Here's the videos I've tried

Two ecu reset suggestions below.

What do your connections and cables look like? My wifes old grand cherokee did a lot of weird things when the connections were dirty/corroded/and barely hanging on. It is possible Advance Auto either didnt tighten them down, didnt clean the posts/terminals, or created a loose connection at the terminal (either pulled the wire out from a poorly crimped terminal, or a broken soldered terminal).

They look pretty decent, I'll take a pic when I'm home. I tried to drive it and I couldn't rick it. Didn't even get to 40 and the rpms were almost to 6. And when I'd slow down and Californian stop the stop sign the car would cut off. Lights and radio on but the wheel wouldn't turn and I'd have to turn the key to start it back up.

My sons 2003 Grand Cherokee similar problems (lights flickering, shifting issues, it would die and restart after a few minutes, but never had "typical" bad alt indication) when his alternator went out. I'm not saying that's what your problem is but might be a good thing to look at.
