Alex01 Silver Sport Build Thread

Late model hinges had a bulge on the backside that went into an indentation in the tub. Early model hinges don't have that and they're flat. I'm not sure what year the change was made.
I didn't know that. Do you know if the newer hinges were stronger or were they designed differently just to accept the plastic cover?

I can tell you this much, my 03 has cast hinges rather than stamped steel. They've held up quite well with a skinny 33.

A few goodies from GR showed up today. Not the fenders but the rear fenders, inner fenders, and license plate holder.

Thanks for the tip on where to mount the front of the fender @Chris.

I also added a nutserts to the holes that typically hold the license plate bracket to clean things up

When I had them, that’s exactly what mine looked like!

You’re body matching the armor, right? What about the flares?

The back of your Jeep needs to be cleaned out! 😉

Looking awesome!

During the last trip, I noticed I could push the axle back. I spent the night flexing out the jeep and trimming the armor.

The DS is .25" longer now than before. My thought is that I'll drive it and see if it causes any vibe. If not then leave it be, if so then send it back to TW. It didn't fall out while flexing out the jeep so I don't think it will be an issue on the trail. Thoughts?

The rear pumpkin has 1/16-1/8th or so clearance to the gas skid.

Looking good, I always liked the GR fenders much better than the Cloaks.

Are those Savvy tub armor or GR? were they countersunk already or just a clear hole?
The armor is Savvy. All the holes were already countersunk with the exception of the 4 license plate mounting bolts.

Fenders came in today!!! I got one side roughly set up- inner fender is not on right now.

If I didn't already buy all the paint I'd probably leave it aluminum because its not far off. At this point I'm thinking I'll paint the steel slider body color. The scratches will show less than black and I can easily touch them up with some body match spray paint.
