I have a 2005 TJ Sport with a 4 inch lift and 33's.

Its getting to be a pain to get in and out of (too high)

Any thought on how bad it will look if I put stock tires and wheel back on it?

Not sure if I want to get ride of the lift kit I can just throw the 33's back on and sell it down the road.......

Looking for the best of both worlds!

You're having a hard time getting in and out....Ok, going from 33s to 30's, will lower the Jeep's ground clearance by 1.5 inches, making the door sill 1.5 inches lower. If you get rid of the lift, it will bring the door sill down 4 inches. Which one of these outcomes is more desirable? Obviously if you remove the lift the tires will have to go too. Or you could take some kind of halfway step like 32's and 2 inch lift.

There's no such animal as "best of both worlds", when you're talking about switching between stock and 33" tires.

I'd install side steps to make it easier to get in. It would look pretty goofy with 4" and stock tires.

Otherwise, swap out the springs with either stock height or up to 2", and install 31's. If you were close, I'd trade you.

I have stock running board - not sure if I get much more out help with a side step!

so no go with the 4" and stock?

thx

That would give you the dreaded 'roller skate' look. Reminds me of teen ager going through puberty, tall and awkward looking. That is usually only done when someone gets their lift done, but is waiting for wheels/tires. As said above, you're really not lowering it much unless you change out the springs. Anything that doesn't have the correct proportion of height and tires is going to look funky.

So just refer to the correct height for the size of tires you're going with. OEM tires are, what, 29"? You can put 31" on factory height and it looks pretty good. I'd say that would look good with up to 2" of lift. 32" would also work with 2".

If you are wondering about the aesthetics of how it will look, trust me, it will look goofy with stock tires and that much lift. People will make jokes about "skipping leg day".

If you are wondering more about performance there are sooo many variables going on here and we need a bit more information to help you. Do you go 4 wheeling or is it just a daily driver? What kind of offroad? Basic farm roads, or Johnson Valley? You will find that a stock TJ is more than capable for the average persons needs if they are just going down fire roads.

We also need info on what type of lift you have. You gotta measure the springs. 12 inches is the stock front spring height, and 8 inches is the stock rear spring height. I measure the front springs from the back of them (facing towards the doors), and also the rear springs also I measure them from the back (facing towards the gas tank).

Like Macleanflood said, some lifts are just down right set up poorly and worth removing in the first place, such as rough country everything, dropped pitman arms, or just plain aren't bumpstopped correctly, worn bushings, etc. The previous owner of my LJR had it setup up so badly I had to re do all of it. All 4 shocks were super stiff nitrocharger sports that were bottoming out, and my rear trackbar was hitting the tub.

Let us know if you can get under the jeep and snap some close up pics. We love pics and as much info as you can provide.
