Any thoughts? (How bad will it look)?

You're having a hard time getting in and out....Ok, going from 33s to 30's, will lower the Jeep's ground clearance by 1.5 inches, making the door sill 1.5 inches lower. If you get rid of the lift, it will bring the door sill down 4 inches. Which one of these outcomes is more desirable? Obviously if you remove the lift the tires will have to go too. Or you could take some kind of halfway step like 32's and 2 inch lift.

Max i can reduce the door sill is 4"......If I go with the 30's and get a step with a 2" drop safe to say I am 1/2" from stock? and a much better look?

It will look like a guy who bought a lift and can't afford new tires. Did you re-gear for the 33s? If not you may really like how it drives again on 30s and not care a bit what it looks like. If you did re-gear you may really really like how it drives.

Do whatever it takes to make your Jeep a reflection of your unique personality!

Getting rid of the 4 inch lift will reduce the door sill height by 4 inches. But if you do that you would have to also get rid of the 33's. Let's say you put 30's on, that will bring the height down another 1.5 inches. So from your current set up to stock, it is a total difference of 5.5 inches. I can't speak for side steps because I never liked the look of them or needed to use them, I am only 5'9 and I jump in and out of my 3.5 inch lifted Jeep on 32s more or less without any drama. Maybe they sell side steps that are retractable so you don't potentially lose any ground clearance?

Looks is completely subjective. I think a stock LJ looks fucking amazing. Other people think a TJ with the shorter wheelbase needs 35s to "look right", then proceed to only drive it to work and the grocery store.

You're wrong. This @NashvilleTJ "after pic" looks fucking amazing. 🤫 (y)

Well, I never said they looked bad lifted on bigger tires either. ;) Everybody loves NashvilleTJ. Just saying that I very much appreciate the look of a stock LJ regardless of the prevailing opinion, and I continue to appreciate it more and more by the day realizing how hard it is to find one that's unmolested. Because, you know, they have to be in original condition first so that we can do the molesting ourselves exactly the way we want to, while telling ourselves it's still "stockish". ;)

I agree and I prefer to buy stock Jeeps, or ones with RC lifts and twin tube bumpers, so I can be sure they were never taken offroad. ;)
p.s. I bought a silver LJR and owned it for less than a week. I talked the guy down to $10,000 (hard top too) and sold it for a $3,000 profit before I even took a picture of it.

I’d suggest ditching the idea of swapping between small tires and 33’s….best plan would be to return it to fully stock suspension and run 30’s or 31’s. I’d go a step further and seek out stock wheels to do that on.
