Any tips on driving my Jeep from from NY to OR?

Just check diff levels to confirm they are full. We took 80 most of the way out and got off in Winnemucca NV and headed NW towards OR and that route was an incredible drive into the back door of Oregon.
Gotcha okay, will do. Yeah so I think I’ll be skirting NV this time. Based on what others suggested, once I reach Laramie I’ll cut NW up to the Tetons and then W/SW from there

Yea I think I saw that listing!
Ferrari was there when I was

Hard tops typically go for about $1K in the WA/OR area so it might be worth your trouble to bring it and sell it here then buy a soft top. Just throwing out ideas, personally I really like having both but i Know it's not for everyone. I'm excited to follow your trip! definitely keep us in the loop. Lot of great suggestions in this thread.
I'd just suggest to take as much time as you can, doing cheap camping along the way if possible. Should be a really fun time, would definitely make for some sentimental value for the Jeep (y)
Oh geez. Now I am considering taking the hardtop. I’ll have to consider that for sure.

Yeah I’ll definitely update y’all on the trip! I know I’m gonna get some great pics of my Jeep hahah. And yeah camping is the plan for about half the nights! And most definitely. I already love this TJ so this will only make that connection more so lol

If you are a Star Trek fan you could swing south of I-80 at Iowa City for a bit (20 minutes) to the town of Riverside Iowa

From there head to Kalona (Amish area) for the cheese factory grab some curds and go back to I-80 to see more corn fields.

If you end up going that way, I'd recommend heading north through Cora to the Green River headwaters for a night or two of camping.

Keep an eye on smoke and fire conditions as you go. There are a lot of active fires when you head up that direction.

Got my new shoes put on for the Jeep! Mud Claw Emtreme M/T tires in 37x12.5r17(I measured them, it’s closer to 35.75x11.5r17, which I don’t mind the slightly smaller size, previous ones were nitto trail grapplers and they measured 36.5x12.25r17). Very slim pickings brand wise, looked these up and liked the reviews and the price so got a set of 4 installed for $1152, not too bad. Good peace of mind to have new tires too, going into this trip

Update!!

So this past week I’ve been getting on some upgrades for my TJ before I make this trip. Got myself a dash cam off Amazon, and so far it’s working like a charm. Finally decided to pull the trigger on a proper bumper as well for a few reasons, mainly so I can bring a spare, as well as attach my bike rack so I can take my road bike with me on the move.
Got the bumper from Extremeterrain, made by Redrock. Great quality bumper, but had a good struggle getting it fitted and attached properly. Took about 4hrs lol.
Also, I took out my rear seat, as I never have people back there, and I’ll need the room for packing stuff. So if anyone on here is interested in a Bestop rear seat for a TJ, let me know! I’ll give a great deal on it.

Vehicle wise, I’m pretty much all ready for the trip, just going to do an oil change this coming week and check my other fluids and I should be good! Can’t wait

Update!
I’m gonna keep it short as I don’t feel like writing a ton after driving most of the day lol. So I’m 3 days into the drive, currently near Lincoln NE for the night. It’s been a good, enjoyable time so far, and it’s only going to get better! Stopped at Starved rock State park in IL, hiked a bit and camped there for the second night, today I stopped at the Worlds Largest truck stop, as well as the Omaha Zoo which was massive, and cool. Tomorrow I’ll be finishing the drive through NE and stay the night in Fort Collins CO. I’ll attach some pics of the trip so far

Nice! Enjoy man. I drove from San Diego CA to Detroit MI and back in my TJ, twice. I loved it and can’t wait to do it again. Make as many stops as your time frame will allow!
