Anybody else feel like these TJs cost way more than they're worth?

Some do. Some don't. It's a car that many people want. Idk what to tell you but supply and demand is gonna drive prices around.

Economics 101: ANY product or service is worth exactly what someone will pay for it. IE: it was worth it to ME to pay what I did for my Jeep. It's also worth it to me to continue to pay what it costs to drive and maintain it.
I liked my current Jeep so much that I bought it twice. I paid $9500 and $9000.

That's been every Jeep since the 70s that the top will come off of. They've always demanded a premium.

Actually, he originally bought it for the $9.5K, sold it, then bought it BACK for $9K. (See Boogie, SOME of us pay attention!)

Yeah, I know. I'm Just giving boogie a hard time. He busted my b***s a couple of days ago about selling my "ugly" yellow jeep to him.
I paid $17,804 for mine, but that was in 2004 when it was brand new. That comes to just under $900 per year at this point. I think I got good value.
I know that isn't really the question at hand, but to answer that question, I'd say they are worth what the market says they are worth, so my answer would be no, I don't feel they generally cost more than what they are worth.

Buy yourself a JKU if you really want to feel bad about your investment.
They should cost more so that people would stop buying them and then they’d get cheaper until people start buying them and then they’ll cost more.
Had on '05 TJ, ran perfect loved every second of owning it. Two years ago someone took a left into it and Insurance totaled it. Took a while to find a replacement, bought an '04 that had a good frame and body but rest of it has turned into a boat load of work, replaced a lot of parts underneath. I still love having it but I've been doing more work in the last two years compared to the 15+ years I owned the first one.

The Jeep is unique. You're paying a premium for that, and it costs what it costs.
So yes, the amount you would pay for a Jeep could get you a different vehicle in better and/or newer condition.
You're correct. The uniqueness of the jeep, furthermore, uniqueness of tj's makes them pricier. For better or worse, there's nothing like it. Have you seen the price of new Jeeps?
