This was on my grill when I purchased the jeep. It appears to have wire going to it in back but I can't really see behind it. Does anybody know what this is?

That's called previous owner dip-shitery (just made that word up).
If I had to guess there was a port there at one point for flat towing it or similar. Someone didn't want it anymore and decided to cover it up with that piece.

I'm not saying there isn't a good chance there is a hole or some other reason for it to be there. I doubt the PO used it to hang Christmas ornaments.

vikingjeeper, i'm so glad you recognized this stupid thing! I would've never guessed it was a magnet. It took quite the pull to get it off! Thanks man, now this ugly ass thing is off!

It's a magnet, you can buy them at Harbor Freight and otyer sources. Maybe put there to conceal a previously drilled hole?

Your headlights aren't in right either, not that it matters much with those things. i think the dot should be straight down.

Yeah, I noticed a while ago they were spun a bit. Trust me, there's lots more than that to fix with this old girl. Spun headlights are the least of my problems!
