Anyone have an opinion on the Goodyear Wrangler Authority tires?

So I recently went to Walmart and saw these all terrain tires made by Goodyear and they are called the wrangler authority. They actually have a really good looking tread pattern and I’ve read people who have had them on there Tacoma’s that highly recommend this tire because it is very affordable. I just wanted to check and see if anyone has used this tire on a Jeep and how they handle and last. Thanks

They're not a bad tire, but there are other choices that are better. I ran them years ago on my XJ Cherokee and the only complaints I had were chunks missing and softer 2 ply sidewalls. Wet weather and snow traction was awesome. If I were buying a 31" hybrid 15" tire today I'd look at Mickey Thomsons ATZ P3. I ran a 33" set and loved them. Excellent traction and tough tires. That said, the MT tire is significantly more expensive. If you don't plan to wheel the Jeep hard, The Goodyear tire isn't a bad choice.

Goodyear is a good brand but how will you be using them there in Tennessee? All Terrain tires are terrible/horrible/grief-causing in mud since an all-terrain tread pattern easily packs full of mud which turns them into a slick when in mud. For dry trails, rocks, etc. all-terrain tires are fine.

I will be mostly using them on the road but occasionally I will use them in a field or like some light mud. I don’t have a lift or anything yet so I haven’t really wanted to take it to an off-road park and mess it up because this is my daily but mostly on road use.

how loud are they on the road because I’ve heard that they can be a little noisy?

Noise is relative on a Wrangler. However, I can say that they are much quieter than the MTZ P3s I have on my LJ. As Jerry said, since these are close to being an All-Terrain tire they're not bad at all. My guess on the reviews would be that any comments about noise were coming from people with trucks and SUVs. With the wider lugs, I could see where they're coming from.

I was told major brand tire company's make tires specifically for Walmart at discounted prices. I would think the quality would suffer.?
Yeah the made them cheaper by making the side wall thinner. But they kept the tread aggressive. But I don’t do any rock crawling or anything so I think it would be fine for my application.

I know they come with a guarantee. So keep your receipt . My buddy got a set for his van and had balance problems a year later and they gave him 4 new tires.

I tried to buy a set of those for my old XJ and the local Walmart refused to install any size tire that didn't come stock on the vehicle. You might want to ask them about that before you buy them in case you have to bring them somewhere else to get installed.

I ended up going this route namely because the local Walmart is around the corner and I know the auto guys really well. Also, this is not my daily driver. The installer ( and only one there I trust) has been installing tires for 15 years. He and I were able to talk thru the install on my new flat black ProComp wheels.

All 4 went on perfect. One needed a bunch of weight but the others only needed between 1 and 4 stick on weights. They will be replacing that tire when the 5th comes in

I haven't driven on them yet because the Jeep is on stands awaiting my completion of rear brakes, suspension and diff fluid change. However, there is a review of a guy w a Tacoma that got 56k out of them that I based my purchase on.

Once I'm ready to drive this thing, I will provide my review IMG_20200127_225654.jpg

I'd find another Walmart. I customized a '10 Ford Transit Connect three years ago. It came with 15s on it and I swapped them out for 18s with the tallest tires I could put on it that wouldn't rub. They had no problem selling me the tires and installing them.

In my past experience, Walmart will not install a tire larger than what you currently have on your vehicle. So if you order them from Walmart, you have to get them installed elsewhere.

Well I am currently running 31 10.5 15 and That’s the same size tire I would want to buy from Walmart do you think they would install it? It’s not the stock size I don’t think but it’s not much bigger.

Check the envelope on the top right of this page.

The only place that will warranty the tire is Walmart. Goodyear dealers will have nothing to do with them. And, tire warranties are not worth the paper they are written on.

I think I read that review did it end with the tires having some balancing issues where he posted a picture of the tire leaning to the left at like 50k miles?
