The manager (Nick) at American Racing Headers reached out to me today and asked if I could find anyone on the forum from the Long Island, NY area that might happen to have a spare 4.0 cylinder head he could borrow for a few days. He said it doesn't need to be functional, and can even be cracked, missing valves, lifters, etc. He just needs it for a mockup of their 4.0 long tube headers.

If you have one, he said he only needs it for a few days. You can call him on his cell phone personally at 631-258-3266. Just tell him Chris from Wrangler TJ Forum referred you and he'll instantly know what it's about.

This is a long shot for sure, but I thought maybe someone on here might be able to help out.

I’m a friend of his..we wheel together a few times a year. His club and my club are members of the same land access organizations. He maintains a large fleet of parts jeeps and had a mini-scrap yard. He would almost definately have one laying around.

But when my Jeep needs something that I can’t do myself, mainly welding, or diff work, I use my very good friend and fellow club member, Evan’s 4x4 in Deer Park. A small, one man fab, diff specialist and all things jeeps for over 25 yrs...but he doesn’t keep many parts laying around with a smaller shop.

John and Evan are friends too.

Another +1 to Goonie's. They're a fantastic resource on LI. I think they keep replacement TUPY heads in stock for those of us blessed with the 0331 head, so perhaps one of them can be borrowed.

what are the 2 clubs here on Long Island? I have heard of 631 jeepers but do not belong to any...I imagine the wheeling out here you do is in the pine barrens out east?

It's mostly beach driving. I grew up in Montauk, so that's mainly what I do. Although the potholes of NYC can be considered offroading :)

There are multiple Facebook jeep groups. Mainly meeting at coffee houses, restaurants and parking lots. These groups are ok for socializing.

There are 2 legit offroad clubs. NYC Jeep Club(Goonie’s Garage owner, John, is a member) and mine, Long Island Off Road Club, Inc. We do not wheel on LI. We only condone safe, legal places to Offroad. Which in the NE, means establishing relationships with private landowners.

I can’t speak to their club organization, but we have elected officers, by-laws, yearly dues, insurance, monthly meetings, monthly organized trail trips off of LI(there is no legal, public off-roading on LI) We have access to our own 2500 acre private wheeling property, we are members of the 2 largest off road organizations in the northeast, Northeast Offroad Vehicle Assoc. and Northeast Asscociation of 4WD Clubs which gets us access to a land sharing agreement with over 20 other clubs in the northeast. We are the oldest, most established, club in this area, since 1993.
