Anyone running an HF radio in their TJ?

Anyone running an HF radio in their TJ? Looking for inspiration and advice on units, mounting locations, and antennas.

I'm not - as yet. I'd just mount it on the ARR mount along with the dual bander and the GMRS. Antenna is my concern. I'd like a light weight, rear bumper mounted extensible mast/tower thing. 20 foot or so.

I've posted these photos before.

One VHF and one UHF with a Crossbsnd repeater for the handhelds. J-bar antenna hidden under the rollbar padding. All mounted on the Upper console. Various local channels programmed as well as FRS and GMRS.

Yes I do, a Yaesu FT-891 with an ATAS-120A screwdriver antenna.

Don't remember. There are two. One on each side. Cut and tuned to midrange of each radio.

I am amazed you could get them to wok taped to roll bar like that. Maybe I’ll try that with my GMRS antenna.

They work fine. Probably cooking my brain, though.

I have worked around high power RF my entire life. Hadn’t affected me one bit
