Gang

Here's the plan...

Date: Saturday, 3/19
Meetup Location: Speedway gas station at 649 N Pinal Pkwy Ave, Florence, AZ 85132 (there are 2 across the street from each other; this is the one right by McDonalds)
Meeting Time: 9:00 am; Leave for trail 9:15 am and air down closer to the trailhead
Trails to Run: Elvis, followed by Box Canyon and possibly another depending on when we finish and which end we exit Box Canyon

I think most of us run a cb, but if you've got an FRS or GMRS radio, bring it as well so we've got options.

Possible Sunday run up for discussion while out Saturday!

GTFO ?!! Really ? Sweet !

I’d like to go but am not sure if I can do Elvis. Box Canyon would be more my style. Are there bypasses for the tough obstacles on Elvis? Saturday 9:00.

Yes. The first obstacle is the most difficult and there's a bypass, which I take. The rest of the trail is moderate. There's a bypass road that runs parallel to the whole length of Elvis too.

Edit: I've done Elvis once before. I'm on 31s with open diffs. Lockers are a must for the first obstacle. I took the bypass and had no trouble with anything on the rest of the trail.

If you watch the video in the link, those are the optional obstacles/ lines. It's a decent challenging moderate trail but 3 or 4 of us on 31s and no lockers handled it fine.

I need to check with Debbie to see if she is up for it, then I will let you know. Sunday is out because I need to pull the roof and doors off to go to the Parker Hard Core Poker run next Friday. I would like to do a shake down of the new hydro-assist before Parker though. Also looks like just shy of 100 miles each way for me. Does anyone know if there is a place to park my truck and trailer in the area?

There's a staging 'lot' on Price Rd before you get to the actual Box Canyon trail. Price Rd coming off the 79 turns to dirt a couple of miles off of the 79 and a mile or so past that there's a huge open area to the right of the road where people air down and park their trailers. If you look at Trails Offroad, I'm pretty sure it's the big open area to the right of the road right across from where Sandman Rd splits off to the left.

You're also welcome to drop the trailer at my place in Gilbert just off of the 60 and drive the TJ the rest of the way to the meet up spot (~45 mi). Not perfect, but wouldn't have to worry about how busy/full the staging area may be.

Damn that’s like a three hour drive from me 😅 Ima need to find a place to crash in Phoenix Friday night if I do this.

I'm not going to make this one. I was informed we have afternoon plans Saturday and its just too far to make it back in time.
Keep me in the loop if you decide to do something on Sunday,

Ok so I’m a little skeptical about this trip now. My rear main seal is already leaking which means I botched the process. I’m worried about it getting potentially worse during the drive or while we’re on the trail. I’ll keep y’all updated.

I just reset tire deflators down to 12 psi. Geez that transfer case is loooowww! Hope we have some good spotters. And attentive drivers.
