Arizona Rock Crawler

Light setup is feeling pretty good so far and all I’ve got is some shitty Amazon A pillar lights, JW speaker knockoff headlights, and then the nice Baja lights with wide cornering lenses on the bumper. I think the Bajas are carrying the team at this point.

Hopefully you were driving to the car wash. ;)

Look for the cyclone lights by the pair on northridge. That’s how I bought mine and saved a considerable amount of money. It’s just the lights and harnesses. No switch, relay, mounting, etc. I bought the mag mounts from KC and use a rough country (gasp) mlc8 for my switching.

I’m glad you brought that up because there are actually quite a few cyclones on the way 😎 and no harness for me either. No way I’m paying $130 for their harness or whatever it ends up being when you order the kit. I ordered individual lights for $30 a pop. Plus I don’t want to wire them that way. I’ll be wiring my rock lights in a parallel circuit as opposed to their kit that has an independent fuse for each light.

I wish I had only bought lights too. When I bought the extension stuff, I had an idea in my head to run all the wires back to a single terminal block and control the block with my switch. I had a change of heart and I figured wiring them in parallel would be lots better, so I paid a little extra for a bunch of wire I'll never use! I haven't installed them yet...and one of the reasons is I haven't figured out a really GOOD way to make a tight, waterproof "T" connection without spending almost as much on connectors as I did on the lights.

I think amber cuts down on the glare off of dust in the air and it’s also just an easier light for the human eye to look at. Similar to the concept of blue light fatigue. From what I can see, a balance of white and amber light in a lighting setup is ideal.

Ive got diode dynamic ss3's in amber on my daily. The light output towards the sides is great, and the distance the light is thrown is also pretty impressive. The amber isn't blinding either. I find them best in the rain when they cut down the glare on wet surfaces from the white light from the heads.

I needed one more switch location for all the stuff I’m doing and don’t need two 12v sockets so I converted one to a round switch. Fits pretty good there. All my other switches are mismatched. I’m still browsing for which rocker switches I want to use so they are all cohesive. Leaning towards OTRATTW switches. I do like the oem style aftermarket switches but I dislike that they don’t have dash illumination and I can’t read them in the dark. I’m also not married to oem looks. As long as they look decent and I can read them in the dark I’m happy.

Let me know if anyone has seen some good looking rockers that fit that criteria!

These look pretty classy for a aftermarket rocker

It’s almost like LiteBrite over here recently!

Well I’ve got my lockers already don’t I? 😂

A guy we wheeled with at Moab earlier this year kept flipping his lightbar on and off while we were doing a trail. It wasn't till the end of the trail his wife asked him why he kept flipping the lights on and off. The rest of us were just kind of wondering. Turned out he thought he was flipping on the lockers. 🤣
