Axle Tube Welding Advice

Looking for any tips on welding on the axle tube. About to install Johnny Joints on the Dana 30 from Currie and will be putting down around 1" to secure passenger side to the axle.

I understand the concern of heat on warping the axle. I've read about using wet rags next to the weld to heat sink. Not sure if that's helpful in small welds like this.
Read 1-2" inches on the axle isn't enough to pull it out of square. Also read to just put down an equal amount on the opposite side.

Appreciate any advice as I jump into cutting up and welding on the Jeep.

This is the axle upper mount kit? Run a bead. Wait a few minutes and run another. Repeat until done. I've become pretty cavalier about welding on the axles.

This works !
Just don't run bead upon bead of weld without time to cool!

You talking about the rock jock passenger side? I’m about to weld that up too this week, I honestly didn’t even give it that much thought since it’s only about an inch on the tube itself.

Yup, it's the Rock Jock Johnny Joints kit. I recognize that it's about an inch of weld but I've seen so many around talk and show off how the axle can deflect.

I look at folks like @NashvilleTJ and his measurement system for his welding (obviously more than just an inch weld with all the brackets he was welding on).

Appreciate the feedback on just going for it.
