Well decided to do a build list so I can keep track of where my money is going. Purchased this last Feb 2020 I had been looking for 10 years and finally pulled the trigger on this one. I didn't do a lot or research until after the purchase and I realize now why jeep prices differ.

1999 TJ - 4.0 - Automatic - with 62K miles. Jeep was mostly a towed

4 inch pro comp lift w/ adjustable shocks

WARN front and rear bumpers

WARN winch

33 inch tires

So fast forward to today.... Still working on it slowly.. Running out of money.

  1. ISSUE 6/20 - wouldn't start just clicked finally after years of Good Sam roadside assistance I finally got to use it and had it towed to my house. I could jump the battery to the started and it started up. It turned out to be the ignition pin assembly. Fixed myself with a little help

  2. ISSUE 6/20 - after installing JKS sway bar disconnects - sway bar was rubbing against the frame - installed MOOG sway bar bushing and that fixed the issue. Also sprayed paint back on the bare metal where it was rubbing.

  3. ISSUE 11/22 - had a small radiator leak - just keep refilling it but went through 3 gallons decided to overhaul the cooling system. This forum was great help overhauled it myself and it wasn't to difficult even for a computer geek.

  4. ISSUE 1/20 - Experiencing a little death wobble at 40mph... In the middle of a paver project at home so brought it to shop. They did a complete run down on the Jeep.
    1. Need- Steering stabilizer - Rocksport steering stabilizer
    2. Need- Trackbar - Got done with Durotrack Track bar
    3. Need - rear brakes done - heat and stress cracks and leaking cylinder - Rear brakes done replaced drums, pads, cylinders
    4. Need - Shocks —————— STILL TRYING TO DECIDE WHICH KIND - really want Rancho 9100 but they say they dont make them for a 4" lift.
    5. Need - Tires balanced - Done
    6. Need - Jeep alignment - Done
    7. Has - Exhaust leak ——— STILL TRYING TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO.
  5. ISSUE 2/13 - Happened while out on a trip - Oil pressure fluctuating - normally it was between 20 - 60 as I drove - but it pegged at 80. Not a gearhead but a computer geek texted my mechanic friend and he said replace the Oil Pressure sensor... Super easy and fixed the issue.

So Additions and things done.

  1. Dynastar Hood Latch
  2. Repainted the Fenders
  3. Bought and installed Cobara 75 CB
  4. Firestik CB Antenna
  5. Installed Big Bubba Horn
  6. Black bezel trim for headlights
  7. Bought harbor freight - air compressor
  8. Installed JKS quick Disconnects
  9. Installed MOOG - Sway Bar Bushings
  10. Overhauled - Cooling system
    1. OEM Radiator
    2. Hoses
    3. radiator cap
    4. thermostat
    5. water pump
    6. fan clutch
    7. new belt
  11. Durotrac Track bar - installed at lifestyle garage
  12. Rear Brakes Done - installed at lifestyle garage
  13. New Oil Pressure sensor
  14. Purchased a used DANA 44 with 4.56 gears and LSD - Still need to put it in.
  15. New Kicker 5 /14 in front and overhead
  16. LED dome light

WISH LIST
  1. Fix Exhaust Leak - Manifold - what kind?
  2. Install DANA 44
    1. Probably going to regear to 4.10
    2. Install detroit lock in rear
    3. install powertrac no slip in front
  3. Paint the hood
  4. New Tires
  5. Rockers plates w/out step
  6. New Nerf bars - custom made thicker steal and welded on.
  7. New Shocks - Brand ????
  8. Aux Electrical - got the material just need a place to put it all
  9. Subwoofer and Amp
 
Fixed Exhaust Leak - Banks exhaust... a mechanic friend helped .. He did most of the work, bu learned a lot and realized I probably could have done it... Took 2.5 hours and I cranked on a bolt for 20 min..UGH

Installed - shocks in the front - went with Rancho 5100x.. Still have the back shocks going to wait and replace when I do the Dana 44 swap.....

Having issues with starting Cranks several times before it starts - then rough idle for the first 3 min or so until I start cruising down the road. Replaced Spark Plugs, Wire, Rotor and distributor cap

Check fuel pressure... good 49psi... asking in another forum...
