Alright here goes. Back in July my son bought a 2000 TJ Sport. Long story short, it is his DD and we are building it together slowly. It came with a 2” BB lift with stock shocks in the rear and Ranchos in the front. Here’s what we (I) have done to it so far.
Kenwood Head unit
Kicker amp
10” subwoofers
New front speakers
He’s 18 so he likes the bump and dammit I guess I don’t mind it either.
Fixed heater
Added longer rear shocks (pro comp freebies) which are pretty terrible.
New wheels and 31x10.50 tires.
He liked black with some red accent so I will be trying to accommodate that look.
Teraflex discos (don’t love them)
Rear track bar bracket (thanks brah)
and some other nick nack stuff.
Today I pulled the rusted stock tire carrier off along with the 3rd non working brake light. Pondering what to do there.

FUTURE PLANS
As you know this changes daily at times but I think I’m ready to roll with the following. (Kind of maybe)

OME HD coils 2.5” or Pro comp/BDS
RS5000X
Small body lift
SYE
DCDS
Tummy tuck skid
Winch
Replace door handles
Tailgate hinges
Window brackets
Bumpers
Rock sliders
So that’s a good start. Trip is April 18th and wherever it is at that point is where it will be.
Currently we have a big Moab trip planned so I’m trying to get it de bugged for that. Needs jounce bumpers and bump stop cups.
The end goal here is 35s after the 31s wear out. Since by that time he won’t have to DD it and it will be our father/son play toy for trails and some light cruising. We will adjust for that when the time comes. I’ll get pics going on here for any little thing that we do.
Any opinions or info is highly desirable.

Also will be swapping axle and gears down the road

Nice TJ!! If you’re eventually going to 35’s, most usually go 4” coil springs rather than 2.5”. It can be done though, with high clearance fenders and flares.

Yes that’s also an option. My thinking is to go OME or maybe 3” right now and possibly sell and switch the springs and shocks once all the other stuff is done and we are ready for 35s. So I stay lower with 31s for now just in case those 35s are too far down the road and don’t happen as soon as we hope. But leaving the high clearance fenders an option. You know how it goes, 35s may never happen but yes you’re right. Thanks for the input.

I’d sand it down and repaint. Of course, I enjoy that kind of restoration and I could save $35.

What are you powering those ear drum bursting subs with?

Kicker Amp 300 watt I believe. It’s actually not too loud or distorted and a pretty inexpensive set up. Of course they come out when wheeling on anything somewhat technical.

well here is the big reveal! BDS it is. Not breaking the bank and somewhat proven coils. They are 3” and have a lifetime warranty. Found them locally while talking to a fellow Jeeper. Waiting on jounce bumpers and bump stop cups. AND SO IT BEGINS. Also should be fine for now and if we dont enjoy them we can swap them out but I highly doubt that will happen.

I'm anxious to hear what you think of those BDS coils!

I’m actually going to pay close attention to how they ride and function compared to stock with spacers. Took some measurements tonight and the TJ is all sorts of crooked and sagging. Still need some rear ext links but I think I’ll be ready to roll by Friday evening. Going to take plenty of pics and measurements.

Awesome I look forward to it! You don't hear much about BDS these days, and I'm always curious to know how the other manufactures are in terms of ride quality and performance.

1 thing about the lifetime warranty that I like is that that will replace them if they sag. There is no fine print but there is an asterisk about only covering defects and workmanship.
