Basket's Build

Shiiiieeeeet I'd rather do a shit ass job fixing it than buy a new one

I understand that believe me I do. As I suggested I'd get on some camper forums and let them help you through the process.

But also be watching since winter is just starting because RV prices go down for the next 3-4 months. You might find a soft side that you like for a few $$$.

Instead of trying to fix that one... If you have the time, skills, and space to do it in. You could build your own frame, and use the appliances from that one. I hate to say it but I think you'll probably find rotted wood every where there is a corner molding.

I guess I can still do what you say if my repair fails. For the price I paid for truck + camper to my dad, I essentially got the camper free lol. So might as well. You know me, I don't give a shit what it looks like if it functions like I want. So I should be able to make something happen with ugly amounts of OSB and silicon, right?

I'll have to look but... if they aren't rotted to the point the jack can't mount, do I care? not yet!!!!

Haha seriously though I know these fiberglass campers aren't long-lived appliances, that is why they depreciate like crazy. I am pretty sure this is an '02 model. So whatever I can do to keep it limping along is probably all that is worth doing vs. any kind of full rebuild, or replacement (more than I am willing to spend)

And get some OLD school wooden saw horses or some cable spools to set the camper on when you take it off the truck. They don't have to support the full weight when all 4 corner jacks are working but it helps to take the strain off the corners.

Also you can get camper jacks that fit under the side lip to take the camper off the truck so you can work on it.

Might see if any rental stores have them.

I do have some solid sawhorses for when it's off the truck - it's when I had removed them to line it up with the truck when it slipped off. One thing forsure - I need a flatter spot to take it off next time. I'll have to sacrifice some driveway space for it.

Those jacks are awesome, kinda what I need to rescue the truck from the jack-less camper lol. Expensive though... if I could find some used or rent some that would be awesome. Luckily I can fix the rear end with it on the truck, but fixing the bed-side outlet is not gonna happen with the camper on.

When I work at a rental store as a kid we rented that style. So I'd call around and ask. If not as you said keep your eyes open for some used ones.
Have you priced the cost of your electric jacks? If you think these are expensive....

I have... very expensive. But seem like a good idea, I do wonder if me manually jacking it up unevenly contributed to the tip. But more money than I care to spend.

I don't see this as a forever camper, but it sure beats tent camping. I'll ghetto rig it to keep doing it's job as a basically free camper for awhile before I'm motivated to actually buy a good one lmao

Yes you have to try and keep it as level as possible as you jack it up. I had to put blocks under the jacks on my camper to get it on and off my truck because I had a small lift on it. And it would get a little shakey as I got it raised up. And I could only do one side at a time. The newer fancy campers have a remote to operate all 4 at once.

Yeah I probably borked that up a little bit, and it was a horrible spot. It felt a lot more level dropping the camper off than picking it up lol.
Sorry forgot to agree with you, not sleeping on the ground is great and having a camper is even better. Of course when you have a mini condo it's hard to complain.
Yep lol even if I have problems and extra work cut out for me, it's worth it. This is more of a "I lucked out and got a camper, let's keep it alive" situation than a "I want, and am willing to buy, a camper" hahaha. So whatever I can do to keep it going, for better or worse, I'm gonna try it

Honestly it's hard to do by yourself. It was one of the reasons I did the Redneck Toy Hauler with the camper mounted on the gooseneck. Didn't have to load and unload it anymore.

Yep anything that gets you up off the ground is good. Fix it well enough to hold the jacks and not break and ENJOY it.

Also look into swapping your battery for at least an AGM and if you can a Lithium battery. And get a solar panel even if it's just a portable one.

If you are going to fix it...Look into Coosa board. I'm contemplating springing for it to replace the floors in my GMC. Its a fiberglass reinforced foam product supposedly stronger than plywood and 35% lighter. Spendy as shit though.

Looks nice - I was having a hard time finding any of that foam / fiberglass "sandwich" sold by retailers. I could probably get away with a 0.5"x38x31" sheet for this repair, 196$. If the camper was nicer and more worth it.

I've already spent some money on OSB, 2x4s, spray foam, and silicon for my budget (ghetto?) fix ;)

Yeah, I get it. Fix that shit as cheap as possible and learn what you like and don't like. We did that for a while with the MH, to make sure we liked the size and functionality of it. That's why we're spending the long dollar now to fix it down to the bones.
