Basket's Build

Yeah, I get it. Fix that shit as cheap as possible and learn what you like and don't like. We did that for a while with the MH, to make sure we liked the size and functionality of it. That's why we're spending the long dollar now to fix it down to the bones.

Makes sense.

I already would prefer a smaller camper. I like truck-bed but having a full shower, shitter, and queen size bed is more than I need. I'm content to poop in a hole and sleep on the couch in front of the heater. Still beats the tent

If you wanna bring anyone special camping (other than the dog) they will appreciate having a bit more room...

Yeahhhhhhhhh I went through this with the jeep already. So I'm not gonna try to trade it (yet). But last time I found that "someone/anyone" it was a fuckin' waste so, not really trying to plan around it anymore either lol

Here's what you need to build!!

These are sick, I'm jealous of the wood stove mostly when I see these builds. I want my truck and camper to remain separate however (or else I need a truck for truck shit)
That one is removable, it still has the turnbuckle tie downs on it, just add jacks!!

Here's one to dream about....

I can't tell if it's smaller, or that truck is just a lot bigger lol. But if I was gonna get another one, I'd like a smaller one. I doubt I'll ever the shower in mine, IDK if I'm ever even gonna use the shitter

It's a little smaller since that is a 8' bed and it doesn't hang over.

I would keep the bathroom. Being able to rinse off after a dusty day on the trail... And having a place to sit down and take a dump shouldn't be looked upon lightly. I never thought I'd use my shower or shitter but when you're sick in the middle of the night it's really nice.

Okay yeah, my truck has a 6' bed. It does look like it has less height when collapsed which is nice.

Yeahhh I mean I got the shower and toilet so... I'll use them eventually. Having a shower after a long day of wheeling is a good point, the trips to Moab would be misery without the showers at the KOA. I guess maybe I'd be more receptive to using them if I figured out how it all worked in the camper 😂

Fun fact, I ate nothing but steak and beer when I was out all weekend. Left Friday afternoon, came home Sunday afternoon, waited til I got home to poop 😂

These Overland type rigs are pretty nice

Pretty easy to work them both. Just need to have your fresh water tank filled and then when you're done with your camping trip you dump your Black & Gray tanks. You might only have One tank for the black & gray.
Again get on some camper forums and ask for some help. It's just like here were most will be happy to offer their advice & experience.

Hehehehe, used to do similar in the Army. We'd eat the cheese in the MRE's to plug you up so you would only shit once a week. When it's -20* outside and the shitter tent isn't heated you wait as long as you can...

Rebraced the corner with a 2x1 (I think)

Got some plywood cut and painted it with flex seal, and you can't even tell anything happened!!

The crackhead special!! But whatever, if it keeps water out I'm happy. I'm just going to get jacks like wildman posted where I can fit them under the steel brace on the bottom back corner. I'm not really trusting that repair to hold a jack, lol.

Now I want to figure out why the taillight doesn't seem to be working. Anyone have any tips on how to troubleshoot what is wrong there? I'm used to decent wiring diagrams for cars where manufacturers made 100s of thousands of them... I don't think there is the same kind of documentation for this.

Nice job. Who cares what it looks like as long as it works..

Just make sure you have the camper balanced on those jacks real well.

Did you verify your ground? Just run a continuity test from the plug to the taillight wiring for power and the ground.

Yep! Maybe I need to start buying stickers...

YES so I've learned, balance is everything for removal and placing it on the truck

I wasn't sure where to start, honestly. Would it be correct to assume I'd be checking for continuity all the way back to the battery? Like one probe on the end of the wire and the other on the pos or neg battery terminal?

No start at the camper plug that goes into you plugin in the bed or to the 7 way plug on the back.

Vehicle is your truck & trailer is your camper.

Go from the plug to the wires at the light.

Okay I see! That makes sense. I'll try that.

IIRC the reverse lights do work on the driver side and not the passenger side... so that'd probably point to a problem in "- GROUND" or "+ AUXILLARY", right?

Just to back up for a minute.
The battery on the camper is to run your lights & heater & anything else that is 12V.

The Aux most times is for charging your battery.

There is a seperate power in the connector for turn signal and reverse. Aux is unrelated. So if turn signal and reverse don't work... it's probably the ground to connector somehow..?

Yes most times it's a ground issue. Like working on a Corvette or other fiberglass body rig. You can't just ground to the body or frame. So for some reason there always seems to be more ground problems with these types of rigs.
