Many Wix filters aren't made in the us after the company sold in 2016 . More and more filters were off shored as time went on .
Currently on the shelf is a Wix for the 2.5 that says USA, and a Carquest for the 7.5 that says Made in Vietnam
Filter is put in the box in the USA. No assembly required
I laugh, but it hurts a little.

They are harder to find but seem to be very high quality filters that are made in either Kearney, Nebraska or Yankton, South Dakota.
The B163 is the standard filter for the 4.0, B2 is the longer version.

I cut open a ton of oil filters, and also follow Bobistheoilguy.com forums. The best filters right now seem to be anything made by Premium Guard. They have plants in Vietnam, Korea and China, but the quality seems to be very consistent. They make several brands of filters including Ecogard, Service Champ, Carquest, and some of the O'Reilly's and Napa filters. I currently have an Ecogard Synthetic filter on my 2019 Grand Cherokee 5.7L V8.
Fleetguard and Donaldson are great quality but can be difficult to source locally.
The problem with a lot of the popular filter brands is they seem to be constantly changing ownership, and then the quality takes a huge hit. I've cut open Mopar and Purolator filters that have looked terrible, and they used to be all I ran a few years ago.

That was first on my list of quality American made products.
I can't knock MANN filters, they've been solid for me for over 18 years in my non-Jeep vehicles, regardless of country of origin.
