its the best filter and it has 50% more capacity over OEM.
I think that's only useful if you don't change your oil regularly.

Is there a thread on the best oil and filter for my wrangler?
Some info is 2.5l 1997 TJ.
What do you all prefer?
I'm not so sure on this.
After watching the oil geek and then asking him a ton of questions I tried the new Valvoline Restore and Protect in one of my work trucks. It was burning oil pretty bad and after the first oil change the oil consumption is nearly gone. The inside is light brown now and no visible sludge visible through the filler hole. Will be monitoring for additional future uses.
I also put it in a push mower and riding mower which would smoke upon start up. Those issues are all gone.
Since I switched away from synthetic oil, all of my oil leaks have slowly resolved themselves-never had an oil "consumption" problem. I appreciate oil geek, but I know what actually works in my application, and I am the OO of my Jeep. Take it or leave it.
You think there is such a thing as too much filtering? It doesn't cost more. I've never gone over 4k for an oil change when I dump my oil pan, the oil is still golden.I think that's only useful if you don't change your oil regularly.![]()
I searched the forum about this a while back. As others have said, there are many threads. I ended up following @Jerry Bransford. Fram Conventional 10W-30 and Fram Tough Guard TG-16 filter.
If you're interested, oil analysis is pretty cheap. Read about it here.
Dear Admin, please lock this thread down, now... Over on the JL forum there is a thread that is 92 pages long, arguing about the best viscosity to use... ( Link, for those of you who have not had your RDA of stupid.)
I like coming here, because for the most part, that kind of mass mental fail does not happen here. And I'd like for it to stay that way. But if Admin continues to let this thread unroll, nothing good will come of it, I promise you.

That’s a loaded questions. That like asking a fat guy what’s the best kind of food to eat. Haha. No offense.
I read someone on here say the simplest and best answer…doesn’t matter, just do it religiously, as we as all the other fluids.
Want to ruin a jeep? Skip your fluid changes.
once a year
Why once a year? Never seen a “ use by date” on the label? Does it spoil faster in hot climate. Does it last longer in cold climates? My Ram oil was a year in November and when I check it I don’t see any mold. Only 4000 miles since the last change.![]()

An engine that sits a lot will develop some condensation inside the engine. Condensation mixed with byproducts of combustion will create a mild acid. Most oil experts generally recommend an oil change interval at a certain mileage OR yearly whichever comes first. I change by miles or once a year if I don't hit the mileage target on my vehicles and equipment. That's what I do because people who know far more than me about oil recommend that. But, do whatever makes you happy.
