I have not noticed any issues with the brakes necessarily, but I did notice what seemed to be gear fluid leaking into the driver rear rim and is coming from the backing plate. I understand that this could be multiple issues. I.e. the axle seal or break fluid from a leaking cylinder. I plan on replacing the seals and bearings, while I'm at it, I planned on overhauling the brakes. I have looked at the Black Magic website after reading a few threads on here about getting drum, shoe and hardware kits in the past but it seems like this is not something that is still offered.

Should I go with PowerStop? reviews are mixed on them but the most recent ones seem to reflect poor quality and missing hardware etc. Any recommendations on what brand to go with? TIA

I wouldn't just go buy brakes yet, like you said it could be an axle seal.

Pull the wheel off and remove the brake drum, you'll be able to tell pretty quickly where the leak is coming from.

The only brake related part that would leak inside the drum is the wheel cylinder and we've never sold or carried that part. We also recently stopped carrying drums since we are no longer able to get any that are actually round.

thank you for the input, I appreciate the expertise. I haven't pulled the wheel off and looked behind the drum. It was something that I noticed after returning home from hunting. The fact that it was on the wheel and backplate made me assume that it was diff fluid. I was more so attempting to be proactive and address the brakes at the same time.

I will be pulling the wheel off to look more closely this week if work allows. it is very possible that this may not be a brake problem at the moment. that said, at some point the brakes will need to be serviced. Am I hearing you right that those of us with drums may be SOL? Again, thank you for your time and responses gents.

I'd be interested in a matching set of drums. I have different ones on each side with completely different weights. Page 12 post 224.

Not necessarily. You will just have to check them for being round. Lay them on top of each other, they should line up perfectly, if they don't, keep returning them until you get a set that is round.
