Blake's SE - The boiling frog syndrome

My brother knew I really liked the gravity pro 6 light bar but neither of us can justify spending nearly that much on lights so he got me a 10 pack of these led lights for Christmas that my grandpa and I used to build a light bar.

I damaged my factory tailgate by being stupid when I had my swing out tire carrier. I forgot to close up the back and with the tailgate being down and the tire carrier swinging I really bent up the edge. I am an absolute sucker from aluminum, it looks really good and it’s light. I replaced my tailgate with an aluminum tailgate blank from outtahand fabrication.

I managed to destroy my prebuilt box for my single 12 and this is the road to one of the coolest and most stupid things I have ever done to my jeep. I haven’t had a backseat for at least a year and I wanted to do something unique. My dad used to make custom subwoofer setups so with his help, we squeezed 4 10in subwoofers in a custom box in the back of the jeep. This thing would rattle your teeth and mirrors. This thing was absolutely awesome but so impractical.

My taillight was lackluster to say the least. I was having issues with them and then they just completely stopped working so I replaced them with Metacloak Plastic taillights. I understand that they were highly inspired by Savvy's products but they were good in price and they work for me.

For graduation, my parents bought me a genright Boulder front bumper with grill guard, this has been the bumper that I’ve always wanted but I never would have dropped the money on, I’m really picky about what I put on my jeep and I’ve gone through 3 different bumpers to get to how I like it now.

I also purchased some Baja design squadron sports. These are super bright and made in America and I have no regrets purchasing them.

Okay, So now we are close to the present day. This is when I realized that I have to deal with the choices I made earlier. A couple of things to note, I have a very distinct build plan, There's a Jeep that Blaine Likes to drop every once in a while and whenever someone mentions the genright mini sliders. I intend to try to make a very similar jeep. I also am a college student which means I have to do this one step at a time due to financial limitations.

This is the Jeep I was referencing, Things I will have to do differently, I am staying on 35s and stock width axles. Coilovers are not in the forseable future as they are very difficult and expensive to use on stock-width axles. Since this is my daily driver, I will have to use the 4-in version of the genright fenders. I am aware of the risks. this brings but Idaho state police have been known to really crack down on people without fenders.

Anyways enough daydreaming, I got a dana 44 from a local shop for super cheap, I originally was planning on doing a super 35 but for the price, it just worked out for me. I didn't take a lot of photos of the swap but the axle is from a 2005 lj so it has the factory limited-slip.

Schweet. That's the front bumper I run.

Over this thanksgiving break, I finally decided that it was time to lose the heavy sub box so I built a new box into the back seat and put it back in, I have no clue how much it weighs, but I do know that it is substantially lighter than my old setup and looks a lot cleaner too. Fold and tumble works still, but the seat itself is terribly uncomfortable because I wasn't able to reuse much of the foam, I built it around one of the 10s I had from the old box so the mounting depth was. the biggest concern, It. Definitely could be done a lot more comfortably with a low profile 10 I just did this without spending any money. just reusing parts I had.
