Bought a 2004 Rubicon yesterday. Joined the forum today.

I think the title of this thread would make for a good chronology-

July 2024 Files for Bankruptcy

November 2024 Begins to figure out how to sleep in Jeep

The wife is on board for me to do the 2" lift and wheels / tires right away. Is it too soon as a poster to get some feedback?

With spousal approval, something we have rarely seen, you get a 500 point boost and unlimited feedback for 30 days.

Do it before she knows what hit her.

And remember, we define a 2” lift and wheels and tires as 4” Lift, 37” tires, beadlocks and an LS Swap.

Make us proud.

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking Jeep. I live in CA so I don’t have any advice about undercoating etc.

Thoughts on undercoating (argh), hosing it down in Fluid Film, etc??? Any areas in particular I should focus on? This is my first TJ so any advice is greatly appreciated!
Should be illegal for people in your part of the country to own any desirable vehicle but since the deed is already done religiously use Fluidfilm, Crown, Woolwax, or whatever is similar every year.

I park mine when the salt comes out.

On the salt piles? ;)

I use multiple cans of Eastwood internal frame coating BEFORE spraying Fluid Film inside the frame. I power wash my Jeep off immediately after driving on salted roads. The Fluid Film comes off with the salt. :(

Great looking Rubicon. I love it! You bought it to drive it and enjoy it. Don't just park it and look at it! Don't worry about rust. Congrats and welcome to the forum.

I appreciate all of the feedback! Planning to drill the weep holes sometime this week and then the fluid film goes in. Regarding the upgrades, they have to happen now while I have the greenlight from the wife and about 60 day before my middle kid needs my current ride. Here is the list I've worked up and You'll be able to tell what I'm working up. Again, this will be a daily driver and a pretty mild build. The Jeep is currently stock with the exception of the 16 inch wheels and BFG 31's (LT's) that I'm selling locally. The guy I bought it from did a full front end rebuild with stock parts.

I'd take any and all feedback. Thanks so much!

speakers will be much less on Crutchfield Ie https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CC54/Kicker-46CSC54.html

Consider a different sub, if you’re already willing to replace the stock one.
This will fit under the driver seat.
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B8PTD/Sound-Ordnance-B-8PTD.html
https://blackmagicbrakes.com/ for pads/rotors.

Noted about the speakers.

Regarding the sub, I actually run that in my '08 Liberty currently and it's ok. I've read on this forum that others have had a better impression with the 6 3/4" Kicker on a new amp.
