What’s up fellow jeepers. I introduced myself in the introduction section about 4-5 months ago. I’m just now getting to start my build thread. A little about my TJ...It’s a 1998 Sport. Has the 2.5 engine, auto tranny, Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear axles with 3.73 gears. When I bought the Jeep it already had a 4” Rough Country lift with wheels and 35” tires. I know, I know, I need to re-gear. It will happen soon enough. Perks of being a shop Technician at Northridge 4x4. Driving it around for a few days, I knew some major changes needed to happen. I’ve made some changes to a few things. Here are some pictures of it the first day I got it.

First thing I did was get some interior goodies. I added a daystar dash panel, some grab handles, and replaced my climate control knob. I also prepped and repainted my dash. I still need to do the doors. I also gutted the interior and sanded the tub and laid down some bedliner.

Great build! Cool to see you're from the PNW too.

I think with a 2.5 and 35s, you're REALLY going to need to re-gear that. It's just a shame the stock axles won't let you go as deep gearing wise as you could ideally use with that setup.

Yeah I found a Dana 44 rear that was slightly bent and I got it straightened. My plan is to go 4.88’s with tru-trac’s. I’m in the process of cleaning the 44 up. I’m going to start building it and re-gearing it on the bench. I should have it installed in a month or so. All depending on finances and time.

So let me put a recap on this past week and what I have done to the tj. It was time to ditch the Rough Country Springs and Shocks that I bought the Jeep with. I replaced the Springs with Rock Krawler 3.5” Springs and replaced the shocks with Bilstien 5100’s on all 4 corners. I also upgraded the stock steering with the Currie Currectlync Heavyduty steering setup with Bilstien Stabilizer. I upgraded the stock front swaybar and end links with the Currie Antirock. I also picked up a Crawler Conceptz Skinny Series bumper that I dropped off at Line-X to get coated. I will install that next week. Here are some pics of the progress.

How long shocks you got with RK 3.5'' springs???any part number for Bilsteins???
I have also RK 3.5'' springs with Bilsteins 5100 shocks but I got feeling they are little bit to short
Thanks

Did a few things to the TJ yesterday. Replaced my headlights with Axial LED headlights. Couldn’t see myself dishing out $400 for JW Speakers so I just went with these. Also installed Select Increments Speaker dash pods with new kicker 4x6 speakers. Installed some Rugged Ridge Black headlight bezels and Door sill protectors.

I have a dana 44 thats slightly bent as well and no shop wants to touch it. What kind of shop did the straightening for you?

Hi from Kingston (y)

Like the build so far. Jantz is back open. I just had my arb locker fixed by him over winter.
