Car pics too cool not to share

I watched one of those f550(?) roamers go all over a beach and across a river mouth multiple times while camping in the middle of nowhere. I was sure I'd need to try to extricate the idiot at some point but he had luck on his side. Cool trucks for sure.

I ran into one at the local AutoZone one day. As I was walking around it drooling the owners came out of the store & offered to give me a tour. The newer ones have a night vision camera mounted to the front & I guess in other spots if wanted. Plus they have a rock cam front & rear

Looks like fun

I maintain that the 2nd Gen Corvair ('65-'69) is truly a beautiful car, with not a bad line on 'em, (in my opinion) and that they almost look European. The coupes have a real sense of elegance to them. Even the 4-door hardtop isn't bad looking, in my eyes, Of course, the convertible will always have the fun factor going for it, though it loses the beauty of the coupe's roof. The only thing that has ever stopped me from acquiring one is that drivetrain. Just not sure I want to get involved with 'em.

What a weird VW. :sneaky:

I can't say I'm a Corvair fan, but honestly, I've never even ridden in one. It might be a fun car to do a little hot roddin'.

An SBC is cool and all, but I think a more modern engine-transaxle out of a FWD car would be a lot cooler, like a sideways LS out of a late '00s SS Impala.

Best friend in high school had one. Her dad LOVED them and thought they were the best thing GM had offered in 50 years.

She calls me one afternoon while I was still at work (worked at the local rental yard) and says can you come help? And BTW bring a engine hoist.
So I'm like OK but why do I need a engine hoist?
She's like "The engine fell out of my car"
I'm NO Fing way, the engine can't just fall out of your car...

I get to where she's at a while later. Sure as shit the rear of her engine was dragging on the ground.
A Corvair (don't know what year) has two bolts in the rear that are the motor mounts for it. Well she'd drug the exhaust off and luckily hadn't done any other damage.

So I go to raise the engine back up and had just put my head under the car to try to see WTF is happening when the bolts I was using strip out of the intake. Almost got my head too....

I get the engine back in place and we're going to go to a friends house to park the Corvair now that it's running. To get to this house we have to drive past the local cop shop... I got elected to drive the car. So I speed up before the cop shop and turn the engine off as I coast past. See when the engine drug on the ground it ripped the muffler off. Made it past and didn't get pulled over. So I can't say that I am much of a fan either.
