That's the one
It's always the unsung trucks that will still be on the job 30 years after they were built. And likely have another 20 years left in them.

That is a frickin looooong boiiiii. I'm sure he won't even feel that 1200lb camper on the back of that.
Yup , other that the Thermal actuator for front diff and shitty exterior door handles I really like these trucks. My favorite working trucks are still square bodies,
if they had a stainless steel body they would last forever. However , on a cold moonless night you can hear my 1980 K-20 rusting......![]()
Do you know the year? Was it a factory SS or something he put together?
The 454 SS really jumped in price about 5 years ago.

I always gloss over those and the 'burbans having 454 "peanuts" for some reason. One of my nephews even has a few sitting around.
Speaking of that gen Chevy, a high school friend of mine had a '95 Z71 5.7/manual trans truck way back when. It looked identical to the one below. It turns out those were rare trucks. He regretted selling it just days later.

I liked the stepside version of those...

Once they were lifted they looked a lot better.
I like these there is one on my neighborhood. Gonna have to disagree and say that lifted one looks stupid AF. Tires stick out way too far and rubber band tires are dumb.
I like stocker trucks left alone cos they are busy doin truck stuff
You don't HAVE to have the roller skate look.... There is a choice...
And I know plenty of lifted rigs that work for a living too... Kind of like lifted Jeeps...
What is that front diff thing you're talking about
From 88-96 ish GM used a thermal actuator to engage the front diff. Basically think of an electrically heated thermostat that moves a shift fork to engage the diff. Later models used a electric stepper motor to move the shift fork. When it's cold outside it took forever to engage , then you park somewhere for an hour and you wouldn't have 4X4 until it heated up again. Dumb idea .
