They're loud, extra maintenance. Some do leak pretty bad. If we went anywhere near a car wash in my dads Corvette, we got wet.
I think I took my top down once last year just to do it. I really love the top up with all windows down, like a safari style in the Jeep. My Impala has a zip down back window if I ever get it going. Don't get me wrong, I love the option, but I have multiple vehicles. If I had to choose between a convertible or hardtop, I'd go hardtop every time.
The big differences between the Cobra and Mach 1 are the aluminum block vs iron block w/blower and the rear suspension.

That top pic is a '66 Fairlane, which I can honestly say that I've never seen a lowered one. Diggin' the paint on that one.

Might have to take back what I said about the wires. I think I know what it is, it's the dish. Those gold rims were quite deep (esp. considering diameter), these are not.

That's the only S550 that I've considered as a replacement for my S197. But besides cost, it's larger, has more electronics and the glass roof option was ditched for the 2015 and up cars.
Sad, but part of the price of these newer cars.
How's this for a first car??? A group members son just picked up this Merc... The original engine was cracked so they are planning on swapping in a V-8... Not sure what but should be a fun ride... Plans are to keep the original 3 speed.
Skirts, Continental kit, wide-whites, Caddy hubcaps and a windshield visor. Oh, hell yeah!!!
He didn't say what they paid for it... But damn it's in good shape... I'd drive it...
