A buddy of mine owns shop in Marysville that builds high-end street rods. I was in there several years ago, and he had a customer's '56 Chev 4-door wagon that they had cut down into a "shorty". It was about halfway finished, and the customer already had $60,000 invested into it. My buddy turned to me and commented how he felt it was the biggest waste of money he had seen in his shop, because no matter what they did to it, the proportions were all wrong with the midsection missing. I would have to agree. But, to each their own, right?They were the KEWL thing in the mid 70's when I use to cruize Colby Ave in Everett, WA but the real cool thing then to do was to chop and shorten the wheelbase. I couldn't tell you now how much they shortened it but I'd guess they took 12-18" out of it, They were a wheely monster.
