I remember many of these - we had a '64 Continental convertible with the power top like the '61 shown in the video. HIdden headlites were a BFD there for a number of years, and who could forget the T-bird sequencer? The 2 way station wagon tailgate was pretty common too.

I know what the engine is but that alternator looks very AC Delco-ish.
If I had a large chunk of land or farm, I'd have one of these.

They were out of LS motors in that town. 40 years earlier they would have been out of 350/350 with a 9". It is refreshing to see some Mopar love .

While I wanted a CJ7 with a SBC in it & loved my 57 Chevy I totally agree. There are rigs that you shouldn't swap a "Whatever" engine into.
But just like today building a Mopar to match the GM potential is more expensive. I'll admit even in my younger days I believed in keeping things within their brand. I always disliked a Chevy in a Ford coupe.
What's interesting is Jeep has been owned by everyone and their brother. In 97 it would be ok to swap a Mopar engine in one , however in 98 Daimler reared it's hessian head and bought them , so would a 360 magnum swap become heresy ? In the late 60's Jeep was owned by Kaiser but Gladiators could be powered by a kick ass torque monster Buick 350. CJ's had Buick odd fire V-6's weird but cool! GM engines in a Jeep from the factory ?I find no sin in ANY swap anyone wants to try.
Sure some swaps kinda piss me off , ( think 55 Chevy with a Real Hemi ) but honestly I think most car guys can appreciate just about any swap.

I can appreciate just about any swap but don't like some of them. Just like I can appreciate the way a rig is built but may not like it.
Yes Jeep has been a funny fickle thru the years. You could get a 327 or 350 in the FSJ & as you said the odd-fire V-6. And then don't forget the iro duke 4 cyl that has been in CJ's & YJ's & TJ's.
As jokingly pointed out it is strange for many older "RODS" to not have a Chevy engine in it.
The funny thing is the 327 was a Rambler engine and the 350 was a Buick engine. Neither were Chevy engines like most folks would think of.
It is odd when older Rods don't Chevy power and I think just as many have a 9" Ford rear end !
We had a 84 Wagoneer Limited with the optional 173 Chevy V-6. What was sad was that V-6 was a ground pounder compared to the Carbed 2.5 sad times indeed.
Ahh yes the 2.8 chevy boat anchor... Those were a hit or miss engine.... I knew a guy that had one that he put over 300k on it and never had a leak or a second of problems with outside of normal maintenance, and I've persoanlly seen more than my fair share of them that didn't even make it to 100k without looking like the Exon Valdes every time they parked...
I think they outmoded the 2.5 chevy the same time they dropped the 2.8 v6 when they switched to the 4.2 and went with the 2.5

We had 2 different 2.8's a 83 in a T -15 Jimmy and a 84 in the Wagoneer Limited they were under powered at elevation , ( Read total Dog ). But neither really leaked. I think the 2.5 in Cherokees were AMC with an optional 2.8 Chevy. The 2.8's make a 4.0 seem like a L-88 427 in comparison.

Yep... it was AMC in 84 not mopar... the 2.5 and 4.2 were all new designed for AMC specificlly built for the Jeep and Eagle lines.
Yep I remember my first time as a young person looking under the hood of a Jeep pickup and thinking that the 327 in it was a Chevy. I learned really quick that it wasn't.
I had the joy of having a Wagoneer with a 230ci Tornado 6cyl. That was a power house.
Yes most old rods had a SBC & 9" rear axle. Just about as many Jeeps with a SBC back then too. I'm not knocking them and said I always wanted a CJ with a TPI 383.
But now days I prefer to stay more in the brands family. Not saying if given a unlimited budget and 20,000 sq ft shop I wouldn't come up with some strange bed fellows.

That's exactly the swap I'd do . . . . 392 into '55 Chevrolet. Smiles!
