That's a wild ride with that car. Financial means aside, it's pretty cool that guy had the fortitude to place the car on display vs selling to the highest bidder. I'd say that's pretty rare. Some things truly are not for sale.
It's a little funny in a sad way that none of the family have interest in that car, but it is what it is. One of my dads friends is in a similar situation with his '68 Shelby 350 and his almost finished '65 fastback that his mom bought new. He has one daughter, and she couldn't care less about cars, especially old cars, but he cherishes those cars. I asked him one time if he was going to give her one and he said "she doesn't care about them, she'll just sell 'em". Meanwhile I'm over here holding onto old cars like a lifeline.
