Car pics too cool not to share

I've driven a few cars with the digital instruments before, and I found that it was more of a distraction than I ever realized it could be. Analog just feels more natural to my eyes. It's the same with LED brake lights. When a car in front of me (with LED tail lights) hits the brakes or activates their turn signal, my eyes feel light they're being assaulted by the almost instantaneous on/off of the lights. It's just such a very unnatural affect. I don't care for it at all.

I agree, Squatch. My view has always been that I have to read, and then think about, what a digital gauge is telling me. An analog gauge tells me what I need to know with just a glance.

I'd read an article about this 20 years ago. Analog gauges you just have to glance at to verify that the needle is pointing in the correct area. With digital you need to read the numbers and then process if it's within the specified range.

I prefer analog gauges, especially in a tach. Have you guys been in something with reverse sweep gauges? I think it was a Can AM side-by-side that I first experienced that in. IIRC the speed was normal, and the tach was reverse. I hate a reverse sweep gauge.

I almost put a digital gauge panel into my TJ. I've got it sitting in the box waiting...

Yes my Wildcat had a reverse sweep gauge and it drove me crazy.

If I'm not mistaken (and I could very well be), don't the vintage European cars have the reverse-sweep gauges in them?

The only vintage euro car I've been in was a 1972 Jaguar XJ 6 . But the gauge sweep was normal , increasing clockwise values.

Apparently, the AC Cobra had a reverse-sweep speedometer. I lifted this from one of their forums...

My vintage Euro car knowledge is pretty limited, but I wouldn't doubt it, Europeans tend to like to do things backwards.
