I had one of these boat anchors in a '76 Camaro. It was shit.
There was just something WRONG with both engines... I've only had a 305 & I remember it being a POS underpowered engine. The 283's & 327's that I had were hands down better.

That's certainly new to me. It is time for me to learn again. What are the heads? And why 3 belts?
I've always heard nothing but negatives about both the 307 and the 305. As I've never been a follower of that branch of GM, I only "know" what the Bowtie Boys have told me.
Just another clone " Super Sport " with tribal flames . But hey , it gets a little credit for sub-frame connectors .
Are you telling me that you wouldn't drive it?
If I was in the market , I wouldn't pay top dollar for clone Super Sport. But for the record I have driven a $60.00 65 Belair 4 dr. for a couple years , but at least it was beige.
I would take a 307 all day long over a 305 ! A 307 gets a bad rap due to it was a base V-8 with only a 2bbl. carb and single exhaust . The 305 was a severely debored 350 designed as an emissions first engine . The side effect for the 305 was an engine that doesn't breathe well due to the intake valve reduced diameter and air shrouding due to the small bore , this also made it a detonation rattling ping monster. The more you know .
You had a floating Camaro?

A-HA! I had a 305 V8 in an '86 Chevy C10. Thing pinged like crazy unless I ran gasohol in the thing. I had no idea why at the time...
Actually, kinda. The suspension was pretty damn soft...

I seem to recall that one of the two was somewhat infamous for having soft cams, too. Seems you could always count on at least one of the valves barely lifting.
