I've owned on RX7 1 Gen. Fun little car

I've heard similar from others. A chick I knew in high school had a mid 90s RX7 that seemed like a fun car, but that's been my only interaction with one and she didn't keep it long. She also had a similar vintage GT mustang, but I can't remember which one was traded for the other.

Swapping the 13B into a Samurai was a popular swap back in the late 90's.

That's an interesting swap choice. How did they do? I'd guess they needed really low gears to get up into the RPMs.

I had mine for a little over a year. Bought it not running and fixed it.

The guys who did the swap loved it but I can't tell you the what's or how's of it. 5.13 gearing in the axle was normal on a Zuk & the even the stock t-case had a slight under-drive so it had the RPM's.
 
I came across this one stashed behind someone's house in a junk pile. I didn't get to do much investigating, but I'm sure someone out there wants it. However, that someone was not my grandpaw, he hated these trucks. "Couldn't pull a greasy string out of a cats' ass" was one of his favorite descriptors of them. :LOL:

Yeah, well...the 305 V8 in my '76 Camaro pumped out an almost uncontrollable 140 horses (allegedly, when new), so take that.... *

There was a time in US auto industry history where the power plants put out criminally low horsepower numbers relative to their displacement. The aforementioned is a shining example of this phenomena.

* For reference my '04 MINI Cooper S pumps out in the area of 180hp from a 1600cc blown 4 pot. As an extreme example, in the early to mid 80's the Brabham F1 team utilized a turbo charged 1.5L BMW/Megatron I4 which was rumored to produce up to 1400hp in qualifying trim, and in a racing car weighing under 1200 lbs with full aero. That'll pucker your sphincter... :D

The only thing worse than the low performance , was the tape stripe graphics to convince you the car was badass , like this 140 h.p. wonder Pinto .

I see that car every time, and it's been here for years. It's an older factory-type resto, and looks like a really nice driver. Hell, if I don't know the owner, I bet I know someone who does. We still have a few old Ford guys around here, and cruise night is tomorrow if the rain holds out. I'll try to get you some 50s Ford pics tomorrow if I can.

I bought a '57 Pontiac Star Chief 2-door hardtop back in the mid-80's as a tool to reconnect with my stepdad. We had a falling-out that had lasted a couple of years, and I knew that the '57 Pontiac was one of his favorite cars (he had one when I was a kid). Anyways, I called him and asked him for advice on the car. It worked. We started communicating on a fairly regular basis after that. As for the '57 Ponchos, they're a damn fine automobile! :)
