Chasing that chirping bird (noise)

Thought I'd pass this along as this has been a noise heard on many o' TJ's

So the other day we're doing sone wheeling and finally I stop as I'm going insane trying to find this strange chirping noise. Soft top hardware? Sonething inside? Outside? WTH....
Rock the Jeep. Nothing.
Push on back spare holder. Nope.
Loose hinges? No.
Rock the seats. Nothing.

Now I'm sitting on the front bumper frustrated and drinking a throwback mountain dew and I say to hell with it. Stand up and I hear the noise. Aaahhh
Push on bumper. Chirp. My son says it's the shocks. I push again and now nothing again.

Now more pissed I push myself back from the Jeep and voila...the noise.

The damn hood latch in the center. Chirping SOB.

Thought I'd pass along to y'all who've chased this ridiculous chirping noise to no avail.

I feel your pain. Mine does the exact same thing. It took bouncing on the beach to finally find it. Did you come up with a permanent fix?

Not really.
Some penetrant worked but was short lived. Really short lived.

I think the only real cure will be a vendor, FedEx and 86 the old one.
