The fuel damper on my 2.5L started leaking. This is the fuel damper at the end of the fuel rail on a 97.

I stopped at a jeep dealership, they wanted $50.
So i removed the bolt at the top and pulled it apart.

See this black o-ring? Thats where the leak was, what with 169k on the clock..

So i went to Ace hardware.... this is the fix...

Cover that o-ring in gas and the damper snaps back on like new.
No leak and you get 2 o-rings for $1.78. Beats $50 😎

Pretty sure on the 97 2.5 that is actually the fuel regulator on the rail unlike the 98 to 02.

Weird because it’s also on my 98, I’m the third owner and I was reading that they didn’t use that on the 98 but it’s there...

Not to weird as they tend to use up what is on hand during early model year production.

Just take the line to a decent auto parts store and have them set you up as most of those type of parts are no longer available.

Ok, so anybody know where to get that hose and where it connect
Look for the other end of the hose at the vacuum connections on the intake manifold near the throttle body. I doubt you will find a oem replacement hose so you can swap in a piece of rubber hose as there is nothing special about it.

Thank you KCsTJ. This same leak just occurred today on my ‘97 TJ. Appreciate the fix guidance. Has the o-ring held up these last few years? Thank you again.
