Chris, have you explored AZ?

So far we have done Canyon Lake, Saguaro Lake, and soon to be Apache Lake and Roosevelt Dam. We have also done the Gold Field mine ghost town and some of the Superstition Mountains.

I’m planning to do Four Peaks trail next which is about 27 miles going through the mountains at which point I should be able to get within hiking distance of the amethyst mine, which we are going to try and visit.

I have so many exploring expedition trips planned it’s just nuts, seriously. I may even go searching for the Lost Dutchmen’s treasure 🤣

I’m in heaven down here. There’s so much history and so much to explore it’s like total euphoria!

Makes me really glad I have the Jeep and a super nice mountain bike / bike rack.

Did you put a dollar on the wall at the Superstition restaurant and grill?

Had pizza at Organ Stop?

I believe you have to contact the claim owners for access to the amethyst mine. They keep it under pretty tight wraps. Something I've always wanted to go see myself.

@Chris Let me know if you ever go to sedona or flagstaff.

Im in San Diego... but want to head out to northern az to explore.

Hell... i would move to flagstaff area if the right job opened up.

Yep, that’s my plan. They do do tours, I just have to find out when and how much they want.

Will do! I’m going to get up there one of these days for sure. First I’m going to explore all of the areas in the Superstition Mountains however, as we live pretty much next to them!

I don't think they have any Jeep's at the Barrett Jackson collection in Scottsdale, but still nice to visit. The CEO has a beautiful house built right into the mountains.

Chris I think your kids would love Oatman, AZ. The donkeys walk the street, and a lot of neat shops for the wife.

I'll have to check this place out as well!

Barrett Jackson is fun to check out, even though I can't afford anything there

Check to see if the Four Peaks area is open before you go. We drove up 87 to Payson and the Rim last weekend and every access point to Tonto National Forest was closed. I believe it is closed through at least 7/31. Seeing the devastation from the Bush Fire was really sad.

Yeah, I'm actually going to hold off until next year on that I think, just because I know that with the road closures and the wildfires, a lot of that stuff is still recovering.

Hell, they JUST announced 88 coming from Roosevelt Dam to Apache Lake is opening on July 31st, so we'll have to make a trip to Apache Lake now that it's opening.

It is really sad seeing the destruction from the fires though, I agree.

I totally dig on Flagstaff! Several free tent/rv dry campsites. Few months ago (Was snowing) I stayed at Cracker Barrel parking lot. There's also an Indian casino few miles east of town with free overnight parking. Lots of hiking opportunities. Top 3 places I'd live at.

Bruh, if you ever wanna check out some mines in your area, I am well versed 😉 I have no one to go with anymore.

You and your fam should check out the lava tunnels in flagstaff. They’re a lot of fun. So is Oatman like someone suggested above. I was there last year scoping out some mines.

yeah... they do. I bid (and lost) on 2 very clean CJ7's. They typically have one or two every year.

Oh yes, I'm very fascinated by the mines, so this is something I really want to do, scope out as many as I safely can!

I would love that, so would my oldest daughter.

We went in the lava tubes in Bend, Oregon that go down 2 miles into the ground. That was so much fun. You have to bring flashlights, and it gets COLD as hell down there, but we loved it.
