Anyone ever wonder why CJ2, CJ3, CJ5... but no CJ4 ?

Heres why, Jeep licensed what should have been the CJ4 to Asia, India. One is for sale in BC.

Mahindra was licensed by Willys to build the CJ4, and they've continued to build variants of it ever since. I think the Mahindra Thar is the newest one.

I've seen these pop up before for sale. I didn't however realize that these were what would have been the CJ4! Very cool! I wonder how rugged and reliable they are?

rugged yes, reliable.... ?? great if you love to tinker. Altho they are kinda bulletproof. Actually the reliability is more related to them being real old used cars.... probably often abused.

The CJ-4 was something different and no version of it was ever produced by anyone. It was closer to the CJ-5 with sort of flat fenders similar to the Kaiser Willys trucks of the era.
