Clunk in rear after installing lift

Hey guys! It should be noted that I’ve lifted atleast 5 Jeeps and I’ve been a mechanic for 15 years. A few years ago I purchased a 06 tj x with 7k miles. It was a 1 owner no accidents, it is CLEAN. It was bone stock when I got it but I purchased a 2 inch BDS lift with fox shocks. Which basically included springs and shocks. Then because the drive shaft angle was too aggressive I bought Tom woods custom driveshaft, split the transfer case and installed sye. It has stock lower control arms all the way around. But it has Rusty’s adjustable upper control arms in the rear to help get the angle right. Also it has jks adjustable front and rear sway bar links. Everything was installed by me, to my knowledge everything was torqued to spec. And I’ve spent hours trying to solve this noise. The noise is a slight “clunk” from somewhere in the rear end of the Jeep I can’t pin point exactly where it is coming from. I’ve wiggled/ pushed around everything on the ground, I did the same thing while it was on the hoist. I’ve shaken the Jeep back and forth, jumped up and down on the bumper. Looked for unusual wear. Pushed around exhaust ect. Another thing that is strange is when driving and going over bumps the clunk is there anywhere from 1st to about 3rd gear (it’s a six speed) any speeds after 3rd gear (or 30mph give or take) the noise goes away. I am soo puzzled by this. And in a small way I regret lifting it. (If I can’t find the issue) because I’m soo passionate about it and I work on cars, I feel like I owe it to myself and the Jeep to find the issue. I also have crazy money wrapped up into it so I feel like I have to figure it out. But I literally don’t know what it could be. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks!

I had a clunk in the rear of the LJ (no lift involved) and couldn't reproduce the clunk with the Jeep parked. It turned out to be a loose rear track bar bolt allowing some movement under load.

That’s interesting. I will double check that thanks!

Trackbar is a common culprit. Nice looking Jeep - are those aftermarket decals? Specifically the "X" one? I've been looking for replacements for my originals since I repainted but can't find the X one.

Yeah. I’m going to try to check the track bar tomorrow I didn’t have time today. Oh thank you! No, the decals are stock. I believe if you look up Jeep wrangler “X” decals on eBay you should be able to find them. Or they may have continued that sticker into the newer models and you may be able to buy them at dealerships. I’m not sure. Thanks!

Nice TJ . I have been looking for that "clunk" sound and was thinking it might be the rear track bar . I will have to investigate that further when I return from this trip .
