2002 Jeep Wrangler tj sport. Yesterday I was driving and all of a sudden it didn't seem like the clutch was helping me get into gear. Just had to shift at speed. I did some research and it seemed like it was master and/or slave cylinder. I replaced those and it didn't help. I Can shift with the clutch in when car is off but can't do it when car is on. If I leave it in gear when I slow to a stop while the clutch is pushed in I can barely feel the engine pushing the car, so it doesn't seem like there is much connection but there's not enough connection to get me into gear while driving.
Half the reason I thought it had to be master and slave is because about 2 or no more than 3 years ago I replaced the whole clutch assembly. Flywheel, throw out, flex plate etc. I don't drive crazy or grind gears either so I don't think I'm just a moron but anythings possible right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I did try to research but I'm having a hard time understanding how to trouble shoot for a specific part problem. It could be that the whole clutch assembly just needs to be replaced again though. Or maybe transmission?

Sure you purged all the air out of the master and slave? Have you checked the fluid level?
Well I suppose not. I bought one of the "pre filled/pre bled" setups. I did open the cap and it was definitely full. And the clutch engagement felt great. I don't know enough about it though. Should I bleed it Incase they had air in it from the factory? I have the break fluid for it if need be.

I would check the fluid now to make sure it didn't develop a leak.

I would also have someone work the clutch while you take a look underneath to see if things are moving.

As a point of order when your jeep is off you don't need the clutch to shift anyway, so that test didn't actually tell you anything. I'm replacing my master/slave this weekend so maybe I'll have useful info for you soon.

I did just check. Looks great. And checked the line all the way down. No leaks from any of the gaskets or anything.

I burned a hole in my prebled Luk master slave on an epic 1600 mile road trip to Canada and back on the WABDR.

Only replacement I could find was a Duralast. It was pure shit. 4000 lbs leg press one second and slamming to the floor the next. Plastic cap shattered.

Put a new Luk on it as soon as I got home.

Well, I changed the transmission fluid, it was actually a little low which seemed weird because I changed it a little over a year ago. It feels like I can drive around the block well enough. Still a bit tough to get into gear. Especially when idling. The higher the gear, the easier it goes in while idling and pushing in clutch, if that's worth anything. Could it just be low transmission fluid? Could it be my transmission going out? The transmission is definitely the oldest part on the jeep. Everything else has been replaced at least once. Transmission probably has 226k on it. If it is in the clutch is there a part that would be more likely, or do I just need to pull it apart and look?

How many gears have the problem? Synchros maybe for a gear or 2 at most.

Mostly 1 and 2. Second gear being the worst. Except from a stop wherein I can only get into 3rd 4th or 5th. 1, 2 and reverse won't happen from a stop. I'm definitely leaning towards synchros at this point. I'm going to take it into a shop to diagnose tomorrow because I don't think I can figure anything else out without taking it apart.
