I came across this on Reddit:

Apparently there's a VR game in the works to replicate building an engine in a car. It seems like a pretty neat idea and may be a good way to getting more people into working on cars.

Then again, working on new cars is becoming less and less about mechanics as it is more and more about computing, haha.

Here's a link to the game's page on Steam along with the description:

ABOUT THIS GAME
Wrench is a highly detailed race car mechanic simulator that tasks you with running a motorsports prep shop.

In Wrench you will:
  • Build relationships with persistent customers.
  • Logbook and maintain customer cars around their race schedules
  • Recommend and install modifications based on customer's driving traits
  • Build and modify your own persistent shop cars
  • Grow your shop's reputation and hire mechanics to help take on more customers

Wrench has a traditional desktop mouse/keyboard play mode in addition to a VR mode for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive (WMR headsets experimental support). Players can fluidly switch between desktop and VR play modes while in game.

That's really cool. It would really help someone like myself with no experience feel more conferrable tackling a job like this. Can't wait for the expansion pack. Removing stubborn rusty rounded bolts.
