Common issues, parts you should carry, and the solutions to fix them

I've had two items give me a no start:

- Cam position sensor
- Crankshaft position sensor

I now carry those in my spare parts bin. Other items are:

- U-Joints, straps, and bolts
- Ignition actuator
- Small container of misc. nuts and bolts

This is just what I heard years ago. No idea if it applies today. Somehow the pressure turning left is routed differently than turning right and low fluid will affect one direction but not the other. I have no idea and if you now have a new pump I'd think that would not be the problem.

Is this something new? How long have you had this Jeep?

I see the date but to clarify, no, modern steering gears have a fluid control valve that opens to provide assist by directing fluid to one side of the piston or the other. When turning effort is different turning one direction than the other, either the bar has twisted or the box was assembled with the bar off to one side.

Bump. I'm excited about this thread. @tomtaylz, can we update the original post with other recent suggestions? I'm happy to help if you're no longer interested.
