Looking for experiance in with the comp cam for a 05 4.0 with or without the one for the edelbrock head?

Which Comp Cam? They make a broad range of off the shelf cams plus custom stuff. Stock displacement and compression?

They only make two cams for 4.0 99-06, one for the eddy head and one for the stock head. Thats all I see on their website. Which is why I asked about a 05 with a 4.0.

I won't go down a rabbit hole explaining how all 4.0 cams can work unless it's something you are actually considering. Thanks for the links. Those are both pretty mild cams. You probably wouldn't notice much of a difference with either, especially on an otherwise stock 4.0 hence my questions.

Is this just something you feel like upgrading? Does the cam need replacing anyways? Are you trying to solve a problem? Just want more chop is a perfectly acceptable answer to me btw although I would argue against it for most people.

LOL, I wasn't asking about cams that where not designed for my version Jeep. I'm thinking about getting more out of the motor. No its not a clapped out high miliage engine. I was thinking of the Eddy head and ARH header with one of those cams. .... I'm not most people thanks

Experience with other engines doesn't necessarily translate well to this tractor engine. How much time do you spend above 5000 RPM in your TJ?

I run the Comp cam for the Edelbrock head on my '05. It has a little lope, but very small and doesn't affect drive-abilty at all. I think that a combination of the right good parts should get you 25hp or more. If it were me I would do a cam, roller rockers, thinner headgasket, header and cat back. All that combined with a tune should be a good bump from stock. I would guess 30 hp or so. It's too bad you are way up in Idaho. I would do the tune for free and let you use my dyno just to get the truth in data.

Thanks for the feed back. Question on thinner head gasket, that would be a different one than Edebrockl recommends for the head? I have been thinking about doing all the things you said, just hadn't thought on the head gasket. I looked at your turbo, but running 93 octane put me off and it's not sold around here.

Hmm people talking smack without experieance about the matter:rolleyes:

I have gone through many iterations of bolt on 4.0's, cams, upped compression via shaved head, couple of different stroker builds, yada yada yada. I'm trying to be polite, but I have way too much knowledge to just crap out for you as a whole. Your question was vague at best so I'm trying to see exactly what results you are looking for from a possible cam and/or head swap. Trying to get a little more out of the motor can mean a lot of things.

And not directed at you, just the peanut gallery in general; HP is not a cure for improper gearing, but that sword cuts both ways. If more HP is what you desire (whatever your reasons), a gear swap ain't going to do it for ya. There is a little overlap for both, but not much.

I'm trying to be polite also, I was thinking of the Eddy head and ARH header with one of the cams I cited. I was looking for results of such a combo, If you have expierance with such I am interested in your results.
