So, I want some decent seats for my TJ. My seat is a bit worn on the driver side of the driver seat, if that makes sense. I usually drive with the doors off, giving me a little lean out the door. As I was looking for a place to go sit in some seats. It turns out that Corbeau is just about a 15 minute drive from my house. They are in Bluffdale, UT, just south of Salt Lake. There were no showroom pics on the google maps link, so I called to see what they would say about popping in to test out some seats.

They do not have a show room, but they are happy to accommodate. They asked that I call in a day prior or the morning of to arrange a time to come by. While it isn’t a retail store, so to speak, they do have seats in stock and I can potentially take home seats same day. On top of that, they told me that they offer a 10% military discount. That’s pretty huge! I imagine I’ll have some new seats to post next week.

I am all for a nice set of Tail Cats but why not just replace the seat foam on the drivers seat?
$80 and some DIY labor and you're done.

I have definitely thought about that. About 20 years ago I tossed some Bestop seats in a YJ I had. That was an awesome improvement. Where I was disappointed was that I like to be really rucked into the seat. I do want a completely different style of seat that wraps around me, but still reclines. I also want to add the option of a 4-5 point harness. I spend a lot of time in the hills of Utah, getting tossed around.

They're junk. My Corbeau Moabs started coming apart after 4 years and less than 5k miles. Stitching is ripped all over and the vinyl started flaking off.

Not sure of the quality of corbeau seats, but a buddy gave me some free Moab seats. Ordered new skins and brackets with that 10% military discount. I guess only timewill tell whether it’ll be worth it or not.

Really? That’s a huge disappointment considering the cost and that I have been relatively happy with the fairly cheap Bestops in the past.

Anyone else, good or bad?

I have a set of Trail Cats that have been in a year or two, absolutely love them! I have a bad back, they're easy to get in and out of. The side bolsters are great for wheeling. I'm a fan, have nothing bad to say about them

Well, here they are, and they are everything that I wanted them to be. I went to the Corbeau shop yesterday. They had what I wanted in stock. Being able to sit in each seat I was considering made it a no brainer for me. They said they could have the seat heaters and driver side lumbar support installed in about an hour. I told them that I would have been happy with next week. I went back to pick them up today. My 8-10 meeting ended at 8:27, and so I used that time to throw them in. Had them in by lunch and took my wife for a ride. I have not installed the wiring for the seat heaters yet. There are 100 or so reasons why I didn’t think that was important today. 🥵 I have put in some more gentlemanly shocks and aired down the tires. These seats give a very secure feeling as you’re getting bumped around and they are very comfortable so far. It is a very pleasant ride around town now, vs the beating that it was when I bought it. I’ve regeared from 3:07 (east coast originating Jeep) to 4:56, and thrown a new PCM, and picked up a Rally Top 2 piece hard top. This is such a different Jeep than I originally purchased. I’ve spent the purchase cost over again, plus a little more now, and it has been absolutely worth it. I think I just recited Webster’s definition of Jeep. Can’t wait to get it out in the hills again, but I don’t think it will be this weekend. Go back to school, kids! Get out of my way! 😂 I mean…you’re invited too, kids, of course.

My seat bolts weren’t as stuck in there as a lot of people said, and like I have experienced in other cars. I was very impressed with the mounting brackets. Yes, I did lose the seat tilt, but it will be so rare that it matters. I am not too worried about it.

About 90% done with the driver seat. I was skeptical about them being comfortable after sitting the on the tan one but once I put the black covers on, theyare pretty comfortable. The plastic pieces have some cracks in them on the head rest, so I may leave them just like this.

Got the driver side installed. Sits probably 1-2” higher than the stock seats, which isn’t a bad thing since my son is only 5’5 or so. Not a huge fan of the female portion seat belt not being attached to the actual seat. If sliding back and forth the seatbelt tends to get caught up in the seat. Clunky like. But overall they turned out nice and comfortable.
