Within just 20 horizontal miles from my home, I can climb 7,000'. The terrain really changes from the floor of our valley to the mountain peaks surrounding it, and I love that.
Below, this is at about 7,000'. It's the floor of our valley. I'm driving through a side stream that empties into the Upper Arkansas River. This water was crystal clear until I drove through it.
Below, at about 8,000'. That's the Sangre De Cristo mountain range on the horizon.
Below, at about 9,000'. We're definitely going to come back here when the aspens turn to gold in the fall.
